You can make backups of Steam games, not to mention that you can re-download them as many times as you want, even on different computers. You can also play them offline, so I don't see what your problem is.
The majority of PS3 owners don't know or care about these things. They bought the console to play games and/or bluray movies and as long as it does that they are happy.
Originally Quake 3 was going to have this control style... "this" meaning a control scheme where you can simultaneously run, shoot and look at different directions.
Don't be so naive. You know very well that as soon as piracy is enabled it won't be limited to those few geeks and hackers, as all previous consoles have proven.
Only the Other OS option in that list is a software only feature. Both the PS2 emulation and SACD require hardware that was removed from the Slim PS3 in order to reduce costs.
As I said in another comment above, while all those options are available on the PS3, nobody really uses them except for some simple PSN games. The vast majority of game developers use libGCM, which is a low level library that gives direct access to the RSX.
In case you didn't know, the Other OS functionality was removed from the PS3 last year when they launched the Slim version. So you couldn't have put Linux on it if you bought it. This news is for the older versions of the PS3 (which they don't sell anymore) which still had that option.
Secondly, I guess Sony is happy that you didn't buy a PS3 to use as a Linux box, since they would have lost money that way.
Because.
This is a pointless discussion. The quality of a game is completely subjective so you won't get anywhere with this.
Since that's how it's done in the Mac version of Steam for the games available so far, I don't see why it would be different for Linux.

What games have you been playing? Most modern ones require a dual core and some like GTA 4 won't work well if you don't have at least a quad core.
Why don't you ask other indie developers who make PS3/PSN games how they did it?
If you read the article (yeah I know) he uses higher piracy numbers for PC than iPhone, but the conclusion is still the same.
Obama only killed the potential replacement. The shuttle was killed by his predecessor.
Actually DDR3 is now (or soon will be) cheaper than DDR2. That's why they are switching.
Don't forget the two or three blank pages where you're supposed to write who knows what.

Nice of you to rewrite what the parent said for those who skipped the rest of his comment right after the sentence you quoted.
You mean the shoddy PS3 ports they didn't do?
Quake-like FPS games aren't suitable for consoles, therefore they are not being made anymore.
Originally Quake 3 was going to have this control style ... "this" meaning a control scheme where you can simultaneously run, shoot and look at different directions.

Because (one of ?) the editors only have an Xbox it seems. For example, all the games that were reviewed here in recent years have been Xbox games.
I don't consider a few posts in a forum somewhere complaining about PS3s bricking a widespread problem.
They are just trying to cover up the fact that aliens really did land in that desert. You shouldn't trust everything the media says.
Chrome also does it, but if you don't use any prefix keyword or whatever they are called it uses Google by default.

If you only use it as a computer I don't see what's your problem. You only need to update the firmware if you use it to play games or bluray movies.
I don't think there is a PPC version of flash 10 anyway so it's not like you get that by using Linux on the PS3.
