  1. Re:New computer purchases? on Firefox Share Slipped in July for the First Time · · Score: 1

I think new PCs is a major reason.

I couldn't agree with you anymore, I have seen this before many times that they will continue using IE over and over again even dealing with pop ups and spyware until the browser becomes unusable and doesn't even go to the correct url that it is being told to go to, and that is when they will take my advice and finally switch over to Firefox after its way to late and there machine is already so infested with spyware.

Now with college season coming up, there rich parents will have bought them a new laptop they will go on using IE until there machine runs slow or stops working correctly due to spyware and that is when I get them as a customer and wind up making some cash reloading there computer and putting Firefox on there machine :) so I'm willing to bet that Firefox gets this number back again in about October/December.

For approximately the cost of a good character, you can rent a character? So essentially, you're guaranteed to be losing money. I guess if you've got the $450 start up cash, plus $130... But wait... What about the game software? Surely there's another $50+ dollars there (for the game, plus whatever expansions have to be enabled to play it). You're looking at around $500 to try a game. Man, I wish I had that much spare cash...

Some things you are wrong about.
The game and expansions are tied to the account by cd-key, and with everquest I no longer have any of my CDs, but they offer there patcher which scans for EQ files and then proceeds to download EVERYTHING that is missing or corrupt that's about 2 GBs of data, and this is actually not slow at all its takes me on cable about 2-3 hours to download everything required to play EQ on all the new expansions.

I'm sure we have all seen the new versions of pop-ups that get though firefox, but luckily we can use plug-ins to block them (Adblock), as long as firefox continues to grow they will only get more and more plug-ins to prevent those annoying pop-ups while IE at the same time, lacks these features, it took Micro$oft how long to develop a anti-pop up utility for there browser, it will probably take them as long to make another one for the new versions of pop-ups. That is why firefox will continue to gain market share, because its flexible and can adapt to something much easier.
