What the heck are you talking about? He's been making anime movies before he signed a contract with Disney. He's been making movies for decades. Research your subject before you start whining. It just makes you look stupid.
All we need left is something to connect the layman (a.k.a. non-/.) with the indie artists. Something like napster for internet radio. Whoever can create the link will be forever immortalized like that one dude who created napster.
...President George W. Bush vows to fight anti-freedom around the world.
"Who do these penguins think they are? Calling themselves 'Emperors'? We, in America, do not tolerate such anti-democratic policies. Let the penguins have their rights. These penguins are part of the axis of evil..."
why not do both? Pollution is here to stay. We should both cut down on pollution and clean up the mess. I don't see why you are calling out the right wing conservatives on this issue. I support pollution reducing measures whether they stop the source or clean up the mess.
see this is why I hate posting on slashdot. People mod these innocent posts down just because they think the post is lame. Is this joke funny? Maybe to some people and maybe not to others, but to mod this down just because you don't like it is stupid. Just ignore the post if you don't like it or don't agree with it. Why do you mod someone's post down especially since he's just trying to be funny, not offensive or bitchy.
I guess it's similar to the way Bush convinced 51% of America to vote for him even after such acts like the Patriot Act and after he lied to us about WMDs. But wait, in the US's case, they have freedom of information and democracy. Yet the same propaganda and lies work in a democracy as well as it works in a communist state. Who would of guessed?
Before you mod me as flamebait or troll, I'm just wondering why you don't mod the parent as flamebait or troll? Oh wait, is it because you agree with bashing the Chinese government but not the US government despite the fact that my points are legitimate? Carry on then.
I'm saying the toyota Prius costs $40,000 dollars to make. Toyota sells it to the car companies for $40,000. USA pays off $20,000 dollars, and then the car sells for $20,000 dollars. Hence, the word subsidized. Consumers get the hybrid cars for cheaper than what it's worth.
I believe the "20K more" figure to be correct. However, people and companies don't pay that amount because the government subsidizes the cost. So, for taxi companies, the benefit is twofold.
Ah, as usual....

...smartass slashdotters crack jokes about a new discovery to hide their own insecurities. I, for one, freely admit I have no idea how ice melts.
..Companies don't need to hire undergrads because it's a roll of the dice. The ones that succeed in startups have proven themselves to be exactly the ones that big companies want. Basically, the smart ones benefit, while the stupid people can't hide behind their degree or grades.
...to think the rest of the world can't comprehend the same things you do. You think the Chinese people are stupid? A lot of the Chinese people I know in China that wish to access "restricted" sites can use other sites to circumvent the filters. You hear about Chinese hackers and such, yet you don't think they have the ability to bypass a simple firewall. Everyone here on Slashdot knows how hard it is for any state in the US to moniter websites such as porn sites or bomb sites. Yet, you think China can easily block all the websites they don't want their citizens to see?
Won't identity theft be easier than ever? Now hackers can take down your information 5 miles away. They can just sit near the transmission towers. How can anyone secure their line without using a land line. Any attempt to establish a certain protocol or identity involves transmission of data, which will be intercepted and decrypted. Sure, we can just surf the web. But how about checking our email and posting on slashdot? We need to protect our DATA!
I thought the worst type of diabetes was when your cells don't recognize insulin at all. When the cell recepters that bind to insulin don't activate any response. Thus, transplanting some B-cells into the pancreas would do nothing.
As for creating stem cells from a patient to tranplant back into the patient to cure type I diabetes, aren't you just re-introducing cells proven not to work in the long run? You are giving a patient whose cells don't work, some more of the same cells??? I find gene therapy to be a more effective treatment. Gene therapy includes introducing 'genes' (duh) into specific cells. Hopefully into the pancreatic stem cells. This will allow the 'working' insulin gene to be ingrained into the patient and be cured forever.
There is a philosophical question under all this. Do people have an inherent right to have any and all information free? I don't think anyone wants ALL information floating around free. What most would consider freedom advocates will still want all spam shut down. Somwhere a little to the right of that, some will want websites teaching how to make bombs shut down. A little more to the right, some will want porn shut down.
Exactly. No country TRULY has freedom of speech. Even in the US there are many censors working to protect the country's own values. Supposedly, the only censorship is prevent someone from offending others or hurting others such as yelling 'fire' in a crowded theatre or cursing out an officer. Yet, where do we draw the line on proclaiming something is offensive? Public nudity is illegal yet I find nothing offensive about seeing Jessica Alba nude. (i do find nude/. users offensive though =) ). Yet other people find nudity offensive. Apparently writing in your journal about some of your thoughts in high school is also deemed illegal. YOUR THOUGHTS!!! Not even expressing their thoughts to others, people get arrested. How about suicide? Illegal. Can you tell someone to commit suicide? nope. accessary to murder. But isn't there freedom of speech????
When you judge a country like China, you have to judge them from their own standards. Everyone likes to say how every human has an inherent right to freedom of speech. NOPE. Freedom of speech is just a VALUE that America has made 'inherent'. Likewise, freedom of speech is NOT a VALUE that China holds dear. Let me clue you in on something, OPPRESSION has existed for a FAR longer time than freedom of speech. Whites, blacks, and asians are all guilty of it, even today.
As a last thought, since we can't do anything about China, why don't we just try to fix the problems in our country? It's definitely far from perfect
I keep thinking the music industry has done all it can do, but instead, it keeps outdoing itself. Their most recent action shows how disturbingly selfish the music industry has become. They are overstepping their domain to try to regulate the ISPs. If the music industry had their way, we would all be "guilty until proven innocent."
We had the technology to build them back then??? Wow, that's news to me. The Japanese must seriously be SO behind in terms of technology that they are still building things from the 1950s.
On another note, I'm beginning to fear the impending rise of Japan's technological skills. With their recent attempt to amend their constitution to allow for a standing army along with their recent changes to their textbooks that make their actions during WW2 seem honorable instead of atrocious. I mean, sure there are some good uses for the new exoskeleton technology. But wouldn't the BEST way to help disabled people would be to research stem cells and how to regenerate nerves and muscles??? This exoskeleton that makes you twice as strong and straped to a computer which allows wireless hook up sure does make me think more of war than it does of helping old ladies. But hey, that's just me, I'm paranoid.

Seems like Microsoft is doing what Microsoft does best. Copying other companies. Maybe that's an unfair statement, but man, I hate Microsoft =).

Well, if it doesn't happen, we have no reason to fear, but if it does happen, we'll be dead. So either way it doesn't matter.
A better thing to do besides discussing this would be to go outside and play with your children. That reminds me, I have to go do something...
that's not funny. what WOULD be funny would be to see a Caltech student fight a M.I.T. student. I would pay to watch that.
