    That is a stupid idea. Often dozens of people submit the same story, but until one of them is accepted, there's no way for them to know that they have already been posted by someone else. What happens is that 10 people submit the same story. Then a slashdot editor accepts it. Then later, a slashdot editor accepts another one from another user, even though both users posted around the same time. Or even the second (dup) may have submitted theirs before the one that was accepted first.

    So yes, the slashdot EDITORS should be punished. NOT the submitters

    Yes. As an additional point, consider this situation from american football:

    During a play, your opponent breaks a rule which is normally alleviated by a 5 yard penalty. However, your team gained 7 yards, so it is to your advantage to ignore the penalty.

    Kamen actually has created an upright wheelchair. Once it's in mass-production, it should do amazing things for the disabled.

    For those of us who can walk ... I don't really get the Segway either.

    Granted, the site appears to be a pile of feces. However, Dean Kamen does have a history of letting Average Joes in his house as part of the FIRST program. As a promotion to get the Segway popularized, it's not that far of a stretch.

    H20/IP functions in a similar way as TCP/IP but focuses on the inherent viscous properties of water that are not present in traditional packet networks.

    So a Token Ring system done this way would be a viscous circle?

    Over Office 97 as well. I switch between the two at work and home and I am always pleased when Office 2000 sucks less :)

    Fleet and BankBoston were often sources of headaches for me. Eventually I decided the fees were too much and I switched to a credit union. But Fleet's Homelink is excellent and I miss being able to use it.
