  1. I thought this was just a Home Server Issue on Vista Slow To Copy, Delete Files · · Score: 1

For sure this happens when copying files to/from Windows Home Server via Vista. What took me MINUTES from my XP laptop took HOURS on my NEW Vista Laptop.

I haven't tried duplicating this behavior DIRECTLY to the XP machine, but I will do so.

Oh well, I was just going to use the EBAY profits to fund my Wii.

  3. Re:Plasma, and a note on careful evaluation on Large Format TV Options? · · Score: 1
    Just a couple of observations.

#1: If you saw LCD's with better black levels than DLP, then either the DLP model sucked or more likely the STORE set the brightness levels WAY up to attract attention to the TV's.

#2: Plasmas. The biggest problem I have with these is the concern of burn-in. Over at AVSforums there's lots of threads dealing with this, but the jist of it is that you have to be careful for the first 1000 hours or so at LEAST. The biggest issue is watching ANYTHING that puts black bars on the screen or shows that put logos/newsrunners on the screen. i.e. Fox/CNN

For my money, if you CAN'T see the rainbows go for DLP. Personally I'm leaning towards LCOS based on tweaking the settings of in-store models.

Sure, but do you refuse to watch cartoons simply because of the medium or do you choose based on content? Off the top of my head I can name cartoons that appeal to many age groups: The Simpons Futurama Gargoyles Batman The Animated Series Superman "" Justice League While I may PREFER the "realistic" look to Zelda, I would have only been robbing myself of a fantastic game if I had boycotted The Wind Waker over something as inconsequential as the graphics.

Both home-theatres AND your local cineplex have their place IMHO. Since most of the arguments are AGAINST the cineplex I'll argue for it. - Cell phones may be annoying, but are you suggesting that you don't get calls at home? - Sure you can pause the movie for a potty break, but is there a reason MOST people can't hold it for roughly 2 hours? - Besides, I see movies as an escape. Pausing the movie just snaps me back to reality. - Seeing a popular movie with hundreds of other people can be a GOOD thing too! I usually enjoy comedies more when watching with a large group. - If you have a visual/audio setup that matches a theatre, then I think your $$$-saving argument goes out the window.

If they do this right, they can EASILY make lots of money off the emulation crowd. Most of us have no problems downloading & tweaking emulators, but the "mass market" doesn't have the patience/skills for that. If they target the pricing correctly(i.e. NOT the $20 they were charging for the GBA versions of these games) I don't see why people won't play this JUST for the nostalgia.

    Some thoughts:

    - If I download games to my SD card, can I somehow back them up to my PC?

    - Would *I* pay more than $1-$2 dollars for an old NES game? How about SNES? N64?

    - They seemed to mention Super Mario Sunshine as a downloadable game! I wonder if this is correct, because it must not have used all of the 1.5GB on the GameCube disc then.

    - Nintendo really IS going out of there way to be different this time. If the specs turn out to be THAT much lower than the competition it will pretty much rule out lots of direct ports.
