::sigh:: I was hoping to avoid this(because this has been repeated a million times), but here goes:

"It's too expensive. Nintendo spent way too much money on this, and nobody will be able to afford it."

$250 vs $500-600 Real world: $250 is less than $500 Bizzaroland: $250 is more than $500

Nobody can afford $250 but $500 is copacetic?

"And where's the innovation that Nintendo are meant to give us? They just do the same thing they did before. Yet another new controller...I'll wait for the PS3... And there's some serious innocvation going on there."

Nintendo innovation = changing the way games are played. PS3 innovation = SHINY! Oh! Oh! We have motion sensitivity too...NO! its not the same. Ours is "Innovative," not that gimmicky crap Nintendo is pulling! Sheesh!

I guess different strokes but come on! Which one is truly innovative...

"I can get one of them for less than the cost of an XBox 360 + a Wii."

You are comparing the price of two consoles to one. Shady bookkeeping at best.

Disclaimer: I plan on buying a PS3 as soon as FFXIII comes out, because it makes me happy. I will feel a bit dirty, but the giddy boy inside me won't care.

I bet if a few centimeters of that ice sheet melted, it may warrant an "asymmetric" amount of fresh water runoff.

  13. Re:"The Day After" premise on Failing Ocean Current Raises Fears of Mini Ice Age · · Score: 5, Informative
The killing of the currents does not have anything to do with temperature differences. It has to do with water densities. I do not know specifics but here is a link to a nice write up on "abrupt" climate change:

    http://www.wunderground.com/education/abruptclimat e.asp

Here is the part I wanted to reference: "Since the Great Ocean Conveyor belt is driven in part by differences in ocean water density, if one can pump enough fresh water into the ocean in the key areas on either side of Greenland where the Gulf Stream waters cool and sink, this will lower the ocean's salinity (and therefore its density) enough so that the waters there no longer sink. The Atlantic conveyor belt and Gulf Stream current will then shut down in just a few years, dramatically altering the climate. "

Also here is a write up specifically dealing with the "science" of "The Day After Tomorrow."

  15. Re:Real life and role playing on Halloween In Massive Space · · Score: 1

I figure it is a way to celebrate a "real life" event within the context of the game. They changed the name because "Halloween" and "All Hallow's Eve" shouldn't exist in the Warcraft Universe. So by calling it "Hallow's End" they circumvent adding out of context material, but at the same time accomplish exactly that. Ciao

IMO I believe that the biggest reward for using FF is not the features or the small build, it is the support issue. Mozilla patched FF in less than a week when the latest flaws were annouced. 21. Re:Actually, I think it's pretty bright... on Nintendo Revolution Details Emerge · · Score: 0

I agree. This is definitely part of the equation, from a marketing standpoint. The other part is a hardware standpoint. Nintendo waits while Sony & M$ rush consoles to market for Christmas, and quietly steps up next year with a more complete machine. I'm betting part of the reason the 360 has a hard drive is to download patches. Anyway, secondly the wait may allow Nintendo to introduce their console at a lower price point than than others, which will still be selling at the highest price point possible. A lower price point than the others will allow the consumer sentiment: "I can afford one of those TOO."

No government has the right to decide on the truth of scientific principles, nor to prescribe in any way the character of the questions investigated. Neither may a government determine the aesthetic value of artistic creations, nor limit the forms of literacy or artistic expression. Nor should it pronounce on the validity of economic, historic, religious, or philosophical doctrines. Instead it has a duty to its citizens to maintain the freedom, to let those citizens contribute to the further adventure and the development of the human race.
