Welcome to the internet. People here aren't known for telling the truth and like to cut and paste cute stories like this over and over. In fact, here you go, I will do a search on a random phrase from the story... and viola, here is where it was originally posted in 2007:

It's also against Florida state law to use cameras for ticketing for state traffic laws. Apparently local jurisdictions - like here in Fort Lauderdale which is why I was looking it up - have been installing them anyway (they are all digital networked cameras) with the expectation that the law might be overturned soon. Then they'd just have to modify the software to enable any new features. Also, some of them - Pembroke Pines - are using them anyway to ticket for local ordinances like "failure to stop before the white line at a red light" rather than the state law against running red lights so they can follow the letter of the law rather than the spirit.
Oh yeah, and if you want to refer to both North and South America together, they are usually called the Americas. e.g. the Free Trade Area of the Americas.
In that case, what is the correct term to use for inhabitants of the the american continent? Not trolling, serious question.
There is no continent called America. There are two continents: North America and South America. Canadians, Americans, and Mexicans are North Americans. Brazilians, Colombians, Chileans, etc. are South Americans.
It's an even better example if you include the full proper name of Mexico.:) Estados Unidos Mexicanos = United Mexican States = Mexicans Estados Unidos de América = United States of America = Americans Why is this so hard for people to understand?
I think he is just being lazy. There is a lot of information processing you have to do to communicate with different people. If you incorrectly guess education level, or familiarity with a certain field, or age, or sensitivity to vulgarity, or even the type of music or other entertainment they like you'll find people misunderstanding you - but of course they won't admit to not knowing a word you used so it makes it even harder.;) So the people that are not good at that or just don't want to deal with all of that simply try to only associate with people very similar to themselves so they don't have to consciously filter their speech continuously.
I've applied a -1 penalty to Funny mods in my preferences for many years now. That effectively cancels out one funny mod so multiple people have to have scored it funny to reach my +3 reading threshold even if the poster had a karma bonus. This particular story is far above the norm for funny mods, though, I must agree. Maybe it might be time to upgrade to a -2 penalty.:)
So you refuse to use all the distros that symlink/bin/sh to/bin/bash?;) Good luck with that.
BTW, debian's default browser is epiphany - not iceweasel.
"Courts that have considered penile plethysmography generally rule that the technique is not sufficiently reliable for use in court."
So apparently the reliability factor is what makes things like this not usable in the US yet. (One of the reasons evidence obtained by torture is not allowed, either, I think.)
Why only 5 years? McCain was one of the 5 in the Keating 5 scandal in 89 and I think that tells us quite a lot about him. The fact that he calls it "the worst mistake of [his] life" and has attempted to gain a reputation as fighting against influence-peddling backroom deals and earmarks and campaign finance reform only make me feel like he is trying to emphatically deny his true nature in public because he nearly got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
And Bush's drunk driving was another very large indicator of his irresponsibility prior to election. I can't fathom how people seem to want these flawed and allegedly reformed leaders rather than electing the best of us that didn't do anything wrong in the first place.
He wasn't complaining about the fact that the resolution is low. The reason he drew the relation to 1280x1024 is that they are both non-standard aspect ratios. 1280x1024 stuck out like a sore thumb because it was not a 4:3 aspect (instead it is 15:12). 800x480 is similarly non-standard - because at 10:6 it is somewhere between the standard widescreen monitor ratio of 16:9 and the standard widescreen tv ratio of 16:10.
Just someone abusing the system, obviously. Too bad I can't use my mod points on the tags.:) Maybe we should make it so that the masses can cancel a stupid tag by using the negated tag, e.g. if there are several "nod" tags and several people make "!nod" tags it would be a wash and neither displayed.
Oh man, that is priceless. He is a bigot for saying people high on marijuana get the munchies, etc.? Thanks for the laugh.:) I think the weed must have affected your ability to recall the meanings of certain words.:D
As long as we are reporting bugs here.:) The box I am typing this in is about 200 pixels wide(25-ish characters) and I have 1000 pixels of whitespace to the right of it.
There is a real component to your accusation. (see what I did there?(see what I did there?)):)
I'm not empathetic enough to notice things like that in other people. I only use introspection and deduction to try to figure out why my instincts pull me to do certain things and apply it to others doing similar things. My act of pointing out that I noticed the pattern is another form of self-promotion, too. Our primate instincts for maintaining or improving our position in the hierarchy never turn off.:D

;)
The latest attempt thankfully failed.
Personally, I'm considering starting up a company to sell infrared lights to be mounted on your dash facing up at the angle of the cameras.

Most professional economists have post-graduate degrees. Most voters with post-graduate degrees are Democrats. 58% D to 41% R in first random poll I found: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/states/US/H/00/epolls.0.html

You seem to be unaware of the fact that Clinton launched cruise missiles into Afghanistan to try and kill bin Laden and others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruise_missile_strikes_on_Afghanistan_and_Sudan_(August_1998)
Other than the erroneous Clinton jab your reasoning for why bin Laden feigned innocence at first seems to make sense.

Encrypted distributed donated storage sounds a lot like Freenet. :)

The operational license they received was from the United States Air Force, actually.

I think one of the reasons people "enjoy" puns is so that they can point out how smart they are when they notice them. ;)
