  1. Phone Theft. on Facebook Introduces One-Time Passwords · · Score: -1

So now when someone steals my phone they can steal my facebook too. Jawesome.

  2. FM Radio on RIAA Trying to Copy-Protect Radio · · Score: 0

There were the same sort of claims when FM radio came out - the quality is so much better than FM that it will encourage people to record the content illegally. I'm not worrying too much about this; it's like saying you can't tape a TV show you missed because you were at work.

I'll always call Billy Gates "long horn" too. ;) Gotta love those poses in Teen Beat.

  4. Something's Not Right. on Columbine Student on VG Violence · · Score: 0

The first time i fucked a hooker to restore my life, i laughed. When i killed her to get my money back, i was cracking up. When i took that money to buy a shotgun and went on a killing spree, i was rolling on the ground.

    Uhhhh.... ok.

  5. Speech-recognition software on Designing an OS for Blind/Deaf Users? · · Score: 0

One area in which all OSs are really lacking is speech and voice recognition software. The only real viable piece of software out there right now is Dragon Naturally Speaking, and from personal experience, it is extremely poor for a child who cannot talk properly and can't type due to tremors.

Until there is software that can pick out an individual's unique brand of talking, such as stuttering, slurring, etc., people who cannot type and talk well are going to be in the dark.

Using Linux will not prevent getting mass-mailed spam messages telling you to update bank info. It will also not prevent you from being a dumbass and typing in your credit card information into a fake form. Advice: Think before you type, Mr. Get On Your Horse.

Excellent point. Mod parent up. The parallels between distributed AC and Wi-Fi are remarkably similar.

  10. Re:Problem? on Hilary Rosen Gripes About iPod, iTMS · · Score: 1

Yeah. The real problem isn't with the iPod, it's with all the music services that dish out crippled Mp3s. It's a total rip.

  11. Evolution Untestable in Long Run on The Pseudoscience of Intelligent Design · · Score: 1

Despite all this ID bashing, don't you people realize that evolution is untestable in the long run? When my biology class was learning evolution in college, we learned about all the confined cases in which pools of fishes adapted over the short term, etc.

But my teacher made a clear point that evolution CANNOT BE PROVED since no scientist has the millions of years in which to test it. In science, anything that cannot be tested repeatedly cannot be proved.

  12. It Was Pulled! on Trek Producers Will Provide World A Break · · Score: 1

"Star Trek Producers have finally agreed that Star Trek fans are oversaturated with the show, and are planning to provide a break."

Is it just me or wasn't Enterprise PULLED from TV? Now they're acting like they meant it to happen to give everyone a break. Geesh.

  13. Brilliant Man. on Dvorak on How Microsoft Can Kill Linux · · Score: 1

Dvorak is a brilliant man with great insights into the world of computing. But seriously, does he HONESTLY think Micro$oft will release a distro of Linux? Fat chance. There's NO way to get around not releasing the source code. And would it even kill Linux as it stands now? Not a chance. You still have to pay Bill loads of bills to use any M$ product.

  14. Ok... on Bill Gates Talks about Belgian eID Card · · Score: 1

With these cards, if it'd be so easy to block certain chat rooms from kids, who's to say the government won't use them to block certain individuals from viewing certain web sites, either because of a certain background, or just plain racial profiling? Also, who is to say they won't require web site owners to register their sites via their card, and if upon review, their site is a risk to national security, take it down under the auspices of the Patriot Act?

Exactly how useful are all these search tools coming out? If you have all of your files organized in a logical manner, how practical is it to have some third-party software to search for files? Granted, when dealing with databases and things, a tool like this could come in handy. But for an average day-to-day user, what in the world makes searching your desktop so hot?
