    Twitter, from what I've heard on Slashdot, as well as this and past posts, as well as observing your signature, I'm getting a very slight impression that maybe, MAYBE... you have a slight distaste for Microsoft?

    Correct me if I'm wrong; from your posting style it's a little difficult to determine for sure. Just a hunch.

    Oh yeah, next week I'll also try to clarify my other hunch that Slashdot is pro-Linux, haven't quiet checked that yet.

    If Dell isn't going to be supplying support for proprietary media codecs (regardless of how easy it is to add them yourself), then this suggests to me Dell wasn't prepared to pay licensing costs to make this happen. I hope they provide instructions, or perhaps a script that runs the first time you boot into your Linux box that can auto-install these codecs, otherwise this will piss off a lot of people.

    Ah, but I'm talking about the online community, the people who understand. I'm not referring to the wider community, the ones who do not have much of an online presence, don't have any relative perspective and are easily persuaded by the politicians "feel-good" messages.
