If you do not have a strong programming background, nobody is going to hire you as a programmer.
Look for IT Admin positiions, preferably with a very niche product. Find a contracting company that is willing to take you on, provide you with some form of training (whether it be just materials, and say go read it yourself, or hands on) and place you.
I was wondering about this...
Is there confirmation that users will be able to (easily) load their own apps onto the phone? To the best of my knowledge, the HTC phone does not have a supporeted way of linking the phone to your PC.
You are wrong there. A homogenous environment (up to a certain point) is MUCH better for scalability. Need more power? Get a new box, apply the standard customizations, throw it in the mix.
I agree that a cookie cutter approach like this does not yeild the greatest performance per box, but it does allow for a better performance/administration ratio.
Yeah, who needs things like boldface, or different color text to emphasize points. All words were created equal, and that's how it should be. /likes HTML mail, hates plaintext mail. What are you doing, emailing me from your skytel pager?
I suppose that's the way we are going with blackberries and iphones. If the Eee could be used for making a phone call, it would be something like a blackberry on steroids. or... perhaps a blackberry on crack? say, a "crackberry" if you will?
The fact that X company should make a phone headlines crop up is indicitive of one thing:
THE CURRENT SITUATION OF CELLPHONES (Esp. in the US) is MISERABLE.
As technology evolves, we need progressive thinking companies (like Apple, Nintendo) to design better UI's for these devices, rather than backwards-thinking companies (Sony, Motorola) trying to leverage existing UI's onto new techology.
Sometimes this works (iphone, wii), sometimes it doesn't (NGage, Virtual Boy).
Also, having an assertive company make the phone (like Apple) means that the carrier cannot modify the firmware so that the default option when I take a picture is to have a print sent to everybody I know at a cost of $4 per print.
Even RIM has conceded in this field, by disabling GPS for Verizon so Verizon can sell VZNavigator.

Wiley made my EE intro to circuits book.
1) there were many mistakes, on 3rd edition run.
2) you had to purchase the answer manual seperately. Ordering it got you a cheap, useless book and a registration card for their online system to actually get the answers. The site made it difficult to save the answers, and the registration expired after 1 year.
Yeah, scumbags.
Everything OLPC has done since its inception has pissed me off.
They bloat the price, in order to add a webcam!?!? Now they are pulling this BS.
They will probably launch with almost no content, and be shocked when their project fails.
I really hope they loose. Unfortunately, that will put Intel's windows-based offering at the front (which will cost about the same, OS included).
Hopefully ASUS's EPC will come through (with its non-school only approach).
That article was terrible.
The only quasi-point that the author made in all 3 pages was that the dreamcast was an unfortunate casualty.
That was the worst article I read all week, and I subscribe to totalfark./zing
Fun as it is to complain that xyz people have superfast computers that they'll never use, realize this:
computers work on an economy of scale. If less people bought high end computers:
- Computer technology would not update as fast
- High end computers would cost several times more
So, the fact that they use these
I went to the elephant listing on wiki that night.
Apparently the population of elephants has tripled in the last three months. That is quite impressive, as each female elephant gives birth to one child at a time (twins and beyond are very rare) and there is a 22 month pregnancy period.
You aren't the only one, just one of the few willing to speak out in the midst of all this rampant fanboyism.
I dont think the motion detection is a bad idea, but not the holy grail that people hearold it as.
Lets take the DS as an example. The dual screens were a novel idea. Now, games that make good use of the second screen tend to be enjoyable. There are, however, plenty of games that are good despite not making use, or making trivial use of the 2nd screen.
Similarly, having the "wiimote" (I hate that term and the asshat who coined it) will not make the wii great. If developers make a good game for which the wiimote is an appropriate controller (ie tennis), then it will be enjoyable. However, the enjoyability comes from the game, not the controller. The controller merely enhances it.
That's not my experience. Most blockbuster's and Hollywood Video's dont cary any VHS. Those that do only carry a very small number.
indie video places may, but even those that i know are primarily DVD (i'd say 70-30 at best for VHS).
That argument stopped being valid around 2001.
To the person who said that DVD has 10x the resolution, therefore a bigger step: Realize, the step from VHS to DVD was more than picture quality. I would argue that the biggest thing that DVD had going for it (as far as mainstream draw) is that you did not have to rewind it, and that it was much smaller and managable.
My family has a 50something inch TV that will do 1080i. Before i came home from college to see it, my sister had hooked up the DVD player through the VCR, though coax, even though it had component inputs (and the cables). Nobody else in my house cared at all. In fact, they were pissed when I "fixed" it because they had to go through a different procedure to get it to work. Nobody noticed the picture difference.
No, the price of a finished cd is far south of a buck. Even on low volume ( 1000), you are talking about mere cents.
CD's are a throwaway comodity. Take AOL for example. They ship out millions of free CD's, including casing (which is often quite nice) and inserts for free. My university ships out 4-5 different cd's to each of the students each year.
CD's are very cheap to manufacture, even after packaging is taken into consideration.

This is just insulting how thinly veiled it is.

Can we just get rid of him?

in soviet russia, internet watches you wait....
Unfortunately, the networking overhead causes the computation power of the group to be significantly less than that of any given individual.
I am old. And bitter.
Yep.

clean division.

i thought it was revived by the pilot being made available for download?
Same thing happened with firefly. They cancelled it, it caught internet buzz, they revived it then killed it again.
