So? I think there's a big difference between believing life exists on other planets and believing that that life has built spaceships, traveled to earth, all to help build the pyramids...
Anyway. Truth or not, I belive case-sensitivity is the relic. Computers are here to serve humans, not the other way around. And while it may seem different to computers, humans still associate car, Car, cAr and CAR with the same thing. Computers are the ones using language incorrectly here.
I think there's a reason why OO languages are more popular than Assembly language. Using computers efficiently is not just about maximizing raw computing power. It's also about human psychology.
To me it just seems that upper case and lower case is more of an aesthetic thing. No matter what case, or mixed case, you write a word in, it still has the same meaning. A file system should work the same way IMHO.
As for your arcane example. I bet the same thing could be accomplished using/bin and/binSpecial. Plus it would be more describing.
I've always wanted a Mac but have been put off by the price. Now this seems like an excellent, affordable, opportunity to test out that cross-platform code.
Yeah really. The requirements are 800 Mhz and 256 Mb ram. Which are exactly my specs.
It was painfully slow. It stopped responding for about 5-10 seconds in the middle of a brush stroke and completely froze when i tried to exit throught the file menu.
Ok, so if I get you right. I'm able to write the partition table first without destroying any partitions. Reboot to see if it works. If not, reboot with a bootdisk and write back the original table saved on disk before start?
Yeah, my thoughts too. I even bought a 2 cd set of 2004.0 and it's still sitting here, waiting for a new harddisk since I don't dare messing with partitions throught fdisk. Just too much important stuff on my windows partition. With disk druid it was so easy to destroy and create partions without accidently destroying your windows partition. With fdisk I'm afraid I'll calculate some wrong partition number and poof, it's gone.
Anyway, I'm happy to know that when I get 2004.0 installed I can just emerge to the latest edition. That's what's been keeping me from buying a linux dist. before. It would be obsolete not long after.

Play on emotions seems to be yours though.
They're getting shot because they can't send home video messages?
We need 3D maps I tells ya'
More like 10K's ;)
Recharges in just 240 minutes!
But hey, we're a small country so every bit counts right ;)
I am joking of course. I hate patents with at passion.
I do belive I got it right. Reread my post.

Thanks for nothing. Point not taken.

What I've always failed to understand is, what is the advantage of having a case sensitive file system?
/etc/fstab
/etc/Fstab
Would there really be a time when you'd want ie:
and
at the same time?
Seems like just asking for trouble to me.
or would you prefer to experiment on living humans?
I would. At least with humans you can ask for their consent... oh wait, these new super mice will take care of that morality issue.
Many games are pretty demanding, so if it's "only" good enough for games I'd say thats a good thing...
Some people here in Denmark pronounce it like "goggle". Sounds mighty stupid.
The Google, it does nothing, nooooothing!

And don't forget the metal tounge...
That looks like a bunch of HAL's.
I can almost hear them chanting "I'm sorry Dave... I'm sorry Dave..."
He did say that one out of all those (~500?) congressman had kids in the service though...
> No, you're thinking of Amiga.
Actually I think it holds true for both...
I thought Atari was just a brand name getting thrown around these days?...
AND READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY... if I had anything to say that is... but now we have another reason to yell at the ones who write in all-caps
Oh yeah, like sunbird is a descriptive name for a car?...

Thanks for taking the time to educate me

So now it has an infinite number of names? Great...
