Sometimes removable devices can also hijack drive letters of network drives. You can also induce this behavior by causing the network volume to go offline (disconnect machine), then have a piece of removable flash memory mount on the machine. Sometimes it will take over the now defunct network drive's letter.
However, once the network drive comes back, you won't be able to reach it until you remove the flash memory.
UT guys are pretty good about copy protection in moderation. Shortly after release, the official patches remove the cd-checks. Happened to UT2k3 and 2k4 as far as I can remember.
Well, there's always the posibility that a game that is gold may not be ready for the shelfs on release date (packaging, manufacturing, distribution etc).
Thus, if 2 games are gold, but don't get through manfacturing, or whatever, then you might only have one available.
I'm hoping that they have DOA4 ready for launch, but Tecmo hasen't said it will be.
It really was a tragedy. They had a great idea... but horrible implementation.
I was at the Hollywood bowl concert... The quality of the (musical) performance was horrible!
1. The LA philharmonic had trouble keeping it together on multible songs. I'm not sure it if was a problem with the tracks they were playing with.
2. They had some horrible clanging during the Halo intro, metal pipe style that was overly loud and grating. (not in the original score mind you).
3. They had a renouned 80's guitarist perform during halo... Except they forgot to properly adjust his pickups! He was unheard for most of his rifts, and eventually gave up and stopped playing. When they signled to him that they had it working again, it was REALLY LOUD and only gave him about 3 seconds of horribly distorted (due to the overpowering volume) of performance.
4. The list of songs performed didn't really appeal to me, but oh well. I enjoyed the MGS, Sonic and Mario numbers, but most of the other stuff wasn't too memorable. Bill Brown was on hand, and his music (rainbow six, Splinter Cell, etc) was to be performned, but ended up being left out. He had previously noted on his webpage that they would be performed.
5. Tommy SUCKS as an MC. Oh my god get off the stage.
I've been using a keyboard from Fingerworks http://www.fingerworks.com/ (that now looks shut down), that has no actual keys on it.
The included gestures are very easy to learn, and you can even make your own. Because of this, I don't see a d-pad less controller too far of a stretch, though extreme precision might be tough to achieve without lots of practice.
I remember reading that HP plans to continue to ship iTunes with its PCs (for now).
If they removed it, what would they replace it with? Better to have a the Apple brand music player than musicmatch (or other), since the brand is currently hot.

Isn't there? I did it for fun and education until my IDSL company went under and Cox started blocking port 25.
I've got TomTom's Navigator software for my Treo 650. It also updates traffic via GPRS network and automatically reroutes you based on your traffic preferences. Works fairly well, but you have to deal with the smaller screen size of the Treo or other PDA.
Today:
HP = computers and printers
Agilent = Test and measurement
Original HP = Agilent

Windows!
Oh darn, it's not written in C.

Nice touch
Reduced costs, shorter design cycles, excellent compatibility and good vendor support.
No need to get all fancy with custom ASICs to replace ones that do the job just fine.
I never understood why Halo was so head and shoulders above the other Xbox games. What makes it so great compared to other titles in the library?
"Even if CDs do become damaged, replacements are readily available at affordable prices."
Thanks, so I'll just buy another copy. Great solution.
Without it, my SNES emulator will not work.

I believe only two games have gone gold, which means a max of 2 games will be available at launch as of now...
Who cares about buying the system on launch day if you can't play the game you wanted yet?

"WHERE IS CARMACK?"
You know they have failed us.

No wonder MS sold it back to them.
Use the power of google search to find juicy tidbits in other's google talk conversations!
It comes pre-installed and has a nice big INTERNET button on your desktop ;)

As far as I know, their contract stated that HP has to wait until 2006 before they can release their own MP3 player.

Clone CD did it for me. It ignored Dameon Tools, but until I pulled Clone CD, it didn't work.

I wonder how much effort it will take to get a standard distro running on it... a la XBox and Gentoo.
Maybe we'll have turrican on the PS3 now.
Usually it's some old mobile radeon 7500 w/16 megs.
