  1. Consequences on The Science of Game Addiction · · Score: 1

Definition: Addiction is a compulsion to repeat a behaviour regardless of its consequences. I guess "consequences" is the key word. How does one measure what a "bad" consequence of something is? With gambling it could be finacial or social or both. With Video game or tv it could be the removal of one from intercation with others. But there can be good consequences, a family spends time playing video games together, how much different is that then playing Sorry or Monopoly as a family. Is it an addiction if it does not have any or little negative consequences? but it could just be the definition of the word consequencses in World in which you live in.

How would the Betamax law or any other apply to TV shows that are taped not DVD rips. I have watched the first 4 seasons of 24 in HD and you can't get those on DVD and they have those little show promos on the bottom of the screen. If I miss a episode of BSG I don't have to worry about how that is going to effect my viewing experience because I can download it the next day. I think this is very important to shows that have story arcs (24, lost, BSG) because missing an episode is more important in the shows history than missing a Seinfeld episode. But it still may be illegal, thoughts

One of the problems that Vista was going to run into was all the embedded video cards out there($300 Dells and HPs) This is a way to allow them to upgrade without having to buy a new video card. Some of the cheap dells have the AGP slot taken off the board so those won't be able to run Vista w/ Aero at all. I want to see how long it takes for someone to crack the ultimate edition. Vista Business = XP pro - media stuff Vista Ultimate = XP pro They will probably sell the business in corp version but since it can't do any cool stuff no one will bother pirating it. Ultimate will be all key based, no corp version.

Crackers will have alot of fun when these guys come out.

I married a great woman she loves video games(and sports for that matter) and has start playing RPGs(Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud, now WoW). The only problem is that I am lower than her but I can deal.

But there is an intrinsic difference between a law and a theory. For every reaction there is an opposite and equal reaction. This is a "Law" which I see everyday in use. It is an experiment that I can repeat over an over using the Scientific Method. I do not see and I cannot evolve a monkey into a human in a experiment at all let alone over and over again. That does not mean that it did not happen but it just means that it is not a law it is a theory. Like I said before placing the word theory on the website is not going to lead to the mass corruption of this nations youth. To believe in evolution or creationism blindly is equally wrong. Some Christians don't just say "I believe in creationism" and that is it. There is a very deep thought process that goes into it and the consutation of Science as with other "controvercial" issues.

To say that if someone does not believe in Evolution, stem cell research or global warming has nothing to give to science is ridiculous. Many religous sciences and engineers have great determination and zeal because science explains characteristics about the "god" that created the world. The Dell does not come configured like the mac so I had to do some tweeking to get the above prices. The only diffence that I can see in configuration is the Dell has a 7800go and 17" screen and the Mac has a 15.4" and a XT1600. The price for the hardware that you get was a lot closer than I thought(I thought that the difference would be greater) It just depends if you are a mac person or if not do you want to invest time and money into another Computer/OS. I loved the idea behind the first Mindstorms back when it was released in the late 90s. I have been looking at the Vex kits and other european kits(FischerTechnik). The one thing that I wonder is how easy is it going to be able to use the other Technic kits with this new system. They probably will wait to see how well this does before coming out with an offical expansion (ie treads). It would be awesome if they allowed the servos and sensors to be purchase through Lego Factory. Overall I think this is great but I have a slight hesitation because it looks too sleek ("We wanted to create robots with more personality," Lund says. "We wanted them to go from being more mechanical to more human."). To me if you can do very functional and/or fun projects with the kits it does not matter how it looks.

Well there are a couple of rabbit trails I could go down with this one.
To my understanding, embryonic stems cells come from leftover fertilized eggs from invitro etc not from aborted pregnancies but it could include both, I am not sure. One of the future treatments, for curing nongenetic problems(ie spinal cord, organ damage) is to create and an embyro(then stem cells) with your own DNA(clone). I don't think that would work with probems such as alzheimer's unless the embyro's DNA is changed to remove that problem. I think that is going to be an even bigger argument than the current one, but is technically no different that the current one.

To make a statement about the flushing of embryos down the drain. Most leftover embryos are kept in cryo for future pregnancies but I am not sure how long. My mom is the state director of an adoption agency(make of that what you want). She said that they have started to do embryo adoptions for couples who can't get pregnant because of fertility, not incubation problems. So know that some embryos are not getting flush down the drain and to ME that is a good thing.
