If you compare a sports game from 2006 to one from 5-6 years ago, yes, there's usually a huge improvement. Thing is, the improvement doesn't look so big when you compare, say, Madden 2001 to Madden 2002. While the changes and improvements do add up over time, they're not huge from year to year and so the criticism is still mostly valid.
Yes, but I only have to buy that HDTV once and it will last a fairly long time if I take care of it. It'll also probably see more use than a computer monitor, and widescreen, high resolution LCDs aren't cheap either. Also, how often are you going to have to upgrade your PC over the next 5 years to keep it "top of the line"? How much is that going to set you back each time?
Seriously, what is up with manufacturers? I don't want TV on my mobile. I don't want to watch video on an iPod. I do not want to surf the web on my DS (yes, I have a DS, and its GREAT... for games)
Yeah! Because you're the only potential customer out there! Nobody else could possibly want those things. That must be why the video iPod, cell phones with digital cameras, and other multi-purpose gadgets are such huge flops.
Actually, I'm pretty sure all the German automakers have governors on their cars for around that speed. There's apparently a "gentleman's agreement" among them, and there was some controversy over it because the Chrysler 300C is not speed limited in this way. There is a bit of a disagreement as to whether Chrysler should be bound by the agreement as a part of Daimler Chrysler or if it only applies to Mercedes autos.
Incredible? I don't know if I'd go that far. It was okay, it was better than "The Spirits Within" (for whatever that's worth), and the CG was pretty good, but it's a long ways away from "incredible".
No, they can't. You received the app and its code while it was under the LGPL, you have permission to continue using and distributing it under the LGPL. They can release new versions under a closed license and give you shit for distributing those, but the terms of the FSF's licenses prevent them from taking away rights to the software you already have. There is nothing in there that says the terms of the license are subject to change with or without notice. Other projects have gone from GPL to proprietary and the existing code was still fair game. Cut with the FUD.
Of course, it doesn't need half the thick-skinned attitude either...
Oh yes it does. I get the kind of language from people all the time that would get you a punch in the face if you used it in person. The phone offers security and anonymity to these people so they feel they can get away with it. Now days, if I get that kind of an attitude from the customer without me fucking up very badly, I just hang up on them. I don't get paid enough to find out how many variations of "fuck" someone can shout.
And no, I'm not asking for it. I'm usually very polite and helpful until the situation takes that out of me. You'd be surprised how many people are looking for a fight as soon as they call. I guess they figure it'll get them better service or something. Nope! *click*
I find it interesting that the biggest outrage over this is coming from people who never played the game. The portrayal of Native Americans may not be so great at the beginning of the game, but at the end they're portrayed as noble heroes and you wind up fighting on their side against the evil white man. The player's character is even *spoiler alert* an Apache *spoiler alert*. A more accurate comparison would be a game where you play as a German soldier in WW2 who believes all the propaganda for the first part of the game, meets some Jews and realizes he's been lied to (they're not really money-grubbing Christ-killers), and turns around to fight the Nazis with more tenacity than anyone. But then there'd be an uproar about that, too, because a group like the ADL would see the first five minutes of the game and flip right out, ignoring the rest of it.
I think you need to read up on what the notwithstanding clause actually says, because while I question its usefulness and purpose, it's nowhere near Nazism like you imply.
I'm pretty sure that revelation is in the Tao Te Ching (worded a bit differently). I'd have to check to be sure, though. Kind of funny, since the GP has Lao Tzu in his sig.
Because fan films are almost universally terrible? I haven't seen the Star Trek:TOS fan series, but I saw a couple of episodes of the other one (Hidden Frontier) and it was god awful. I sure as hell don't want Firefly sullied by the likes of that.
One thing I've learned in tech support purgatory is that Mac users aren't any smarter than Windows users, they just have better taste.
Antihamsters?
They put a pretty interesting spin on it with Mutant League Football. It would be nice to see stuff like that come about from time to time.

By your standards, though, even Sega hasn't "survived intact".
Seven hundred dollars?! Where the hell was he able to get it for that cheap? They were around $900CAD out here.

Wow! And all of those are able to drive and walk under their own power, too! Oh wait, they're not?
Actually, Moore is referring to console gaming too. He is, after all, running the 360 show over at MS.

Do you really need everything spelled out for you? SoTN and every 2D Castlevania since were the games he was referring to.
Nah, the "Hangly Man" people should be given a free pass here just for the name, which might be one of the funniest names in video game history.
Not all movies are art either. He probably just doesn't want to see Boll shitify MGS like he has every other franchise he's touched.

You missed the jab at Doom 3 in there.

la probably rings a bell because it's often used as an alias (in some distros by default) for "ls -a".
*giant cane appears and pulls flok off the stage*

He already exposed the secret past of Book using the Operative. To go into any more details at this point would just demonize his character.
