Really, what's wrong with Microsoft setting it's own programs as the default? I mean, if I made an OS, a browser and a search engine, I would bundle the browser with the OS as the default (because I own it, so no one will complain about me selling their browser), and I'd set my search engine as the default because I think my search engine is the best and I want to give my customers the best. Sure, IE isn't that great, but Microsoft is GIVING IT AWAY.
If I'm missing something, someone please explain this because I don't get it at all..
Your "Nintendo Wii FTW" comment made me realize that this is actually a good thing. Not because other consoles won't do this, but because other consoles CAN'T do this. Sony patented it, so only Sony can do this (for 10 years-ish, right?).
Considering how much money could be made through illegal means and how easily, morals are a much more important deterrent than the police. The police are the back up plan;)
Radio controlled.. there could be a "war is over - shut down" command. Of course, it would have to be insanely complicated so people couldn't hack into your minefield..
I think you're missing the point. It's not that this person was the only person alive, it's just that their children married into all other families over the course of several thousand years.
I'm too lazy to read your entire comment, but I noticed you were complaining about mixed environments. What if there were special roads for people with these cars? "Toll road: Computer driven cars only" I could see people driving normally on normal roads, then switching over to automatic on roads designed for it.
I have automatic updates turned on (with download first then ask before install), and the only annoyance is that I have to uncheck it every time I update. It's not that difficult though, and it definately asks before it installs.
Google's obligation to their stockholders is to stay everyone's favorite company(tm), because being everyone's favorite company is the perfect advertisement. The best way to do that is to keep "Do[ing] no evil." I don't see why they would suddenly try to screw themselves over just because Google is publicly traded..
I don't think Google would be the one being hurt here. Google is a hugely important website, but what about the tiny almost useless sites that made the internet worth searching?

The reason they patented it is to make money for themselves, but it doesn't mean it can't be good for us.

And if he does something that "bad/abusive", John.Q.Internet-Billionare is accountable to the government, which is accountable to the people..
Linux announces LinFS to be released before Windows Vista. When asked why, Linus Torvalds responds "Just to prove that we can".
The problem is that the price of Linux jumps from free to $1000+. The changes between free Linux and enterprise Linux aren't worth $1000.
I was under the impression that there's no way for a program to know that it's in a virtual environment..
...doesn't have ads. I know this may not be the kind of TV you watch, but it's proof that it can be done.

Which game exactly do you need this for in Linux? Frozen Bubble doesn't exactly need a powerhouse graphics card..

Better to find out by having Windows stop working than to find out with a MS spokeperson delivers the court papers..
This website has been around for years.
Don't you usually want p0.05?

If some clever student made the OS, Microsoft wouldn't be able to sell it..

Last time I checked, an agency has to have more than one person..
I think it should be changed to Clippy the animated paper clip. He's even scarier than Borg-Gates.
Seems like if you're sending billions of spam emails, slow internet connections start to matter.
But if there was less spam, there wouldn't be anything for them to do!
No, Apple will just make more money off of them.
