Lets not forget that these 9 states make up a large portion of the countires GDP. California, if it were to break away would be the 6 th largest economy in the world, so having a seperate version for us is not all that bad, as I am sure MS wants all the money they get from California.
I know of a large bank in the US that runs on NT, They reboot all of their production boxes 3 times a week. I am glad I just write the code for them, it must suck to be the person who sits there and reboots the thousands of boxes all the time. On NT they only get about 1000 users concurrently, but that takes 6 boxes to support those 1000.
I have never bought a blizzard game to play on battle.net. It seems overflowing with jerks the few times I tried. I only play on lans with friends. Its much more fun for them to say wtf did all those orks come from as i kick his ass.
On the north cost of the state. But be realistic. In San Diego you can live on the cost in a 600 sqft 1 br aparatment for 1200. Cheep. But I live inland in a 2k sqfoot house for only $280,000. But i can afford it and my wife is working on her phd in pyscology.
It should, Mandrake 8 has USB support out of the box. I used a usb mouse to do the install with. and it works after i got it installed. So being a newer distro i would expect it to have support
I went and looked at it and it states that they will upgrade you to the stuff that comes out in the "near future" what does that mean? 1 year? 5 years? 1 month. It also mentions firewire, but according to the ardicle DVI uses much more bandwith so you may well be serewed. It also says reasonalble costs for the upgrade, so you could still be spending a bunch of money for the upgrade.
When I was in 4th grade one of these was tossed into my house. Fortuately all of my family got out, but it burnt down our house and killed our cat, Parrot, and my snake. This, unlike a gun has not self defence use and should be outlawed.
I made a somewhat subatantial reply, about 1.5 pages, but it does not show up here. I talked about their impact on software and did not just say i hate microsoft. But my comments were a letter rather than on legal letterhead with a lawfirm with many offices. (and yes I had it proof read)
Compaq does this for their servers as well. My neighbor works for them doing this. She was bitching because she had a 4 hour window to fix the problem. The drive would take about 2 hours, so 2 hours tto fix the problem right? No she needed to pick up a part and the supply person took 1.5 hours to get to the office to get her the part. That is the was support should be. Dont you wish you could get your e-machine fixed that fast.
I am a software engineer in San Diego California. And as such I am very much involved with compuers. What I have recently heard about the Governments choice to settle the Anti trust case against Microsoft is disheartning. I expected that the government would take put the consumers who have been harmed by microsoft first. In the last 5 years I have purchased 8 new computers, each one came with a Microsoft operating system, of those 8 I still use 3, but only 1 is running a Microsoft OS, os as part of their bundling requirements I effectively purchased 8 copies of the same software to run on one computer. I believe that as part of their selltelment Microsoft should be required to follow open standards prevented by law from extending those standards in a closed fassion. For example, the Keberos spec, which they embraced then changed so that their OS' would not interoperate properly with other operating systems such as Solaris and Linux. They should also be required to open their standards for many of their products such as the networking so that SAMBA can be made to work proplerly with windows.
Also I feel that Microsoft should be required to open the source of the operating systems they are no longer supporting, thus allowing anyone to fix the problems that Microsoft will no longer fix, I am not suggesting that they give away their current or previous OS (XP and 2000/ME) but rather that they open windows 95, 98 and NT which they no longer support.
lets not forget the new one they have pvr 501, its worse. I had the first dish player then thought I would upgrade for longer recording time. This one sucks, I cant wait till my contract is up to change to tivo and direct tv. The 501 will continually forget to record programs, it was buissy recording 22 hours of ER (hint it should stop after 1hour) or sometimes in the mornign the recording light would be on, and in the recorded shows it would say it is recording but I cant stop the recording, watch it or watch anything else. IT is to the point now such that everymorning I unplug it to reboot. I really hate the PVR 501.
Anyone want to buy one cheep?
Not really, he created webTv then it was bought by Microsoft. I remmeber reading somewhere that it originally ran on linux and mircosoft was hellbent on changing it over to theirown os.
What you need is apache running gallery. All you do is upload your photos, it resizes them, puts them into albums and allows captioning. And its open source. I run it on my esmith box.
But they could release their code without the source of the libraries and it wouldnt compile. You then go look at where the build falied and remove the calls to the copy protection stuff, at most you now know the function call for the copyright crap
It looks as though the linked article is for upgrading the original pvr box that had a 15 hour recording time. I canecled my supscription, moved and had my wife sign up to get the new box for free. I took the drive out and it was a 17 gig, cant remember the make but i tossed it into my linux box and it works fine. Their new box is the Dish 501pvr. If you look at the list of Hard drives on the link you will notice that there are things like 20 gig hd listed, so It is unlikely that that info is for the new box.
I had the first dish pvr then bought the 501. The 501 has some bugs in it as well as some stupid "features" For example, If I am watching a program and just want it to finsh recording the one i am watching I have to go in and create a timer, it takes about 15 steps, If I just push the record button it will record until you tell it to stop or it runs out of recording time, verry anoying if you decide to go to sleep. The other thing is that when you look at what timers you have set it does not tell you what program that is, so I can see that I am recording somthing at 12 pm on ch 107 but not what it is. Also it only seems to keep info for 2 days ahead where as the old one kept a week ahead. It says 25 hours recording and I get 25 hours on it which is nice. Also a few times it has said that it is recording somthing and it is not, I can not stop it and cant record somthing else until i reboot it. Also it has a verry bad habit of missing programs, about 2 per week out of about 80 that I record. Also you cant just select a probram from the guide that is listed as being recorded and tell it to not record the program anymore, you will have to go into the timers area, which sucks because I have about 40 different ones listed.
Over all I think it is a good machine, especially beacuse it was free with a 1 year comitment. So I pay 45 a month for 1 pvr and 1 regular reviever. and after a year I get to keep the equipment. It just makes more sence than the tivo option, But there is only one tuner which sucks. But thats why I have x10 video sender senting the other reviever to my big screen.
Up until about 2 months ago I lived in the city of San Diego about 7 miles from Down Town. I was able to get local channels on DishNetwork. They rock, they will give you a box with a built in PVR for free if you agree to 1 year, just like a phone. The interface is not as nice as tivo but it still records programs for me and holds 35 hours.

Which theater number? I go there often but I did not know one was digital.

you should talk to your post office, I believe they will block it. And check out the DMA to get your name off the list.
But dosent he also say that its free music, ie the author wants it coppied.
there is a CORBA firewall now my company is working on an implementation of it.
bubble sorts, that was like freshman year work. Senior year I had to write a Compiler and a search engine.
