If I had mod points you'd get +1 Insightful from me. There's too much "M$ sux0rz" and "Google are the one true God" from some people here, nice to see a thoughtful post of an opinion for a change.
Actually most stores here sell new PC games at around £30, which according to Google is about $55. This is the same for DS games, which irks me to no end.
I won't bother with converting the currencies but here in the UK new Xbox 360 games (with the exception of pretty much just Rockstar Table Tennis) cost £49.99 in stores. I work in a games store and we've been told that PS3 games are likely to cost "between 50 and 70 pounds".
Who do Sony think they're kidding? If a game costs as much as £70 I think a lot of people are going to look at our price of £99.99 for a DS Lite and a game and think "Woah, I'm being screwed".
I remember back when the demo first came out, I think I was in my early teens. I think I didn't play it because it was around the time I'd scared myself shitless at the zombies suddenly chasing you (so sloooooowly) in the first Gabriel Knight. Consider your suggestion noted, though:)
Gamestation in the UK have been taking PS3 pre-orders for weeks. We've been taking them at £425 for whatever the basic 60Gb package is (i.e. presumably a box with the console and one controller - similar to the PS2). The store I work in has actually stopped taking pre-orders because we've already taken more than we're likely to get come November 17th.
For £550 with 3 games looks like the £425 price is correct, and that's a pretty decent saving on the game prices since we're expecting new PS3 games to cost above £50 new (Xbox 360 games are generally £49.99 new here in the UK). Also notice that Play.com are saying the games included may change due to availability - or more likely they may put more desirable games into the package if better launch titles are announced. There's really nothing next-gen about a Singstar game from what I saw of E3 footage.
I mostly play RPGs too, doesn't mean I expect all the games I play to be 60+ hour epics where saving the world is the order of the day.
Right now I can't wait for New Super Mario Bros. to be released here in the UK, a game that can apparently be beaten (get to the end without doing every optional thing) in less than 4 hours. Will I pay £30 for it anyway? You betcha, as all the reviews I've read have been stellar.
How exactly? Assuming a constant price of $20 per episode, this would suggest $60 for episodes 1-3. Assuming around 12 hours of playtime this is a "single game" but the standard of many games available today, especially FPS.
And, to be perfectly honest, I enjoyed Episode One so much I thought it was good value.
I have a few friends with whom that's a common catchphrase. That level is one of my favourites in any game, and I can't actually think of a better one off the top of my head.
"Episodes have upsides but they also have major downsides. They're great for whiny little kids who want quick fixs, but they're bad for real fans who want to explore and enjoy the game for what it is."
How about we wait until the game is actually out and reviewed before making sweeping statements like that? Considering episodic content is still very much in its infancy I think it's a little naive to make that sort of comment. After waiting years for Half-Life 2 and loving every minute of it when I finally got to play it, and loving the multiplayer-jewel that is DoD: Source, I trust Valve. I can't wait for Episode One to be unlocked tomorrow so I can get back into that HEV suit.
Just want to agree with the parent, I just bought a new PC and the P180 was the case I chose. I have a lot of love for it already, its design actually made putting the rig together enjoyable, especially since the structure meant you could do it all in obvious stages (this was the first time I'd built a PC and I'd recommend the case to other newbies) and then slot it all back in. I originally chose it because I'd read good reviews praising its effective cooling but the best thing about it for me has to be the spaces inside.
The only thing worth mentioning is that it's quite a deep case, so much so that it doesn't fit on the ledge in my PC desk and has to sit on the floor beside it. All in all a great case though, well worth the money.
Of course, all Microsoft need to do is convince Blizzard to make the second WoW expansion Vista-only and they'll instantly get huge numbers of people upgrading to the new OS:P
I can empathise. I'd like a DS Lite but I don't want a white one (too much like an iPod) and don't much want a black one (attracting fingerprints like nobody's business). I'd really like a blue one like Japan got (and possibly the USA, not sure) but no, we get black and white. It's hard to complain though - it's coming out months earlier than most people expected.
Don't forget the twist at the end where all the main characters are AIs and 99% of the audience walk out saying "What the hell happened?"
The 1% who claim to "totally understand the whole story" will rub this in everyone's faces.
Here the UK I think stores stopped taking deposits for game pre-orders years ago. It's a very archaic practice especially since most of the time websites are cheaper for games. Consoles are still deposit-protected I believe.
Good point, Reggie didn't actually mention that. I did read very recently that it was still the plan, though perhaps they didn't mention it because they didn't want the removal of a feature clouding over their conference.
Well, I've already decided that out of the next-gen consoles I'll be preordering, the Wii is the one I won't be selling on eBay for megabux.
Interesting that Nintendo have finally conceeded to having two different versions of Twilight Princess, rather than a Gamecube game that would have added Wii functionality.
From one fan to another, I recommend you finish the game. It sounds like you have ToB too so you'll get the real final ending (until someone decides to make a BG3 without any of the original team - rumours abound for the past couple of years that this is on the cards).
That was actually my point. We don't know much about Bully, other than what the name suggests and what we've seen from a few screenshots. Without watching Fight Club for yourself you could easily assume it was just a violent film about a club where men fight (I actually did, I only saw the movie last year and amazingly hadn't had the real plot spoiled for me in the years since its release. Great movie). Groups are up in arms about a game they know nothing about - as usual.
Actually I was implying that his post was well thought-out and communicated, instead of the usual quick drivel that pops up in articles about Google.
Of course, you can't spell "dude" or "sucks" correctly, so I would argue that it is in fact you who has terrible language skills.

I don't think the fear and scares were the only things that made Resi 4 great, but if more fear = more games of that calibre then I'm all for it.

Fun > Game Length IMO.

You're right, but I'll point out that Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube wasn't a port, the GC was the first platform it was available on :)
DoD: Source, try reading before you "correct" people.
I am the Milkman. My milk is delicious.

For the love of Gaming God, play Psychonauts. If you have, and didn't find it funny, I'm surprised and saddened.

You of course mean a "Jibble" sandwich.

Do you have any idea how cruel it is to include the word "Fallout" in the story title of an article in the Games section?
Zonk, expect rabid RPG fans after you for raising their hopes, albeit by accident!
