My parents earn just enough that my family doesn't receive any government aid. My father went into public radio, my mother does clerical work. I have a part-time job.
I'm currently on the road to study Computer Science or Mathematics, possibly both. I'm not traveling the road that was set before me, and while not poor, I'm not financially stable either.
I may be the exception to the point you were making though.
I've always had great luck with 1&1. Just registered a.org last night with them and it was done within the hour (I could visit www.mydomain.org.) While just a little bit more expensive, NearlyFreeSpeech.NET might be a good alternative. I've yet to use them, but have been looking into transferring most of my domains there due to their nearly free speech policies.
I'm not sure what APCSAB exam you took, but the one I did, 2007, I was required to write and recognize various data structure manipulation algorithms, such as sorting or searching. The standard libraries didn't do any good for me, as I couldn't use them.
Granted, you do have a point about pointers. But seeing as I only took the exam to see how well I understood the material, I'll get to learn about pointers either on my own or at Uni this fall.
You should run XP. I'm not running AV etc. Yes windows firewall is running... but in general thanks to limited user accounts... I really have no problems with web spam popup/install hijack stuff like your XP setup did.
He stated, in order for you to feel superior, and decide if what others are doing is "worth a shit", you yourself should do nothing but work and sleep, contributing to society.
Therefore, if you don't feel superior, and don't decide what others are doing is "worth a shit", then you're welcome to participate in whatever recreational activity you wish.
Stop providing support to new customers, and wait out any support contracts already in existence for MySQL. Then convince them to switch to PostgreSQL?
I haven't seen a link posted yet, so: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/svpk/2008/04/windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu_c81472f7eeea2eca421e116cd4c03e2300ebfde4.exe
Are you familiar with the 5th Amendment? Defendents aren't required to testify, and cannot be forced to do so.
Sounds like a bitter engineering school drop out. =P

Me. There, problem solved.
Because it's already the best.
You don't use sound. But I do.

According to http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/compsci_ab/dist.html?comsciab there were 5,064 students that took the AP CS AB exam in 2007.

Cuz God forbid someone use 3D for their job! Sheesh! The idiots on Slashdot these days...
This your first time to Slashdot?
Unless you use Google Apps to do the mail handling for you.
Could someone tell me what they mean by "operation near absolute zero."?
He's posting on Slashdot. It didn't happen.
I didn't realize we were taxed on all our property, such as my moderately costly computer.
I've never attempted to eat my technology... so why should it come with such a warning?

Not sure why your copy still requires the disc. SecuROM crap was removed in 3220.
Here is a retail to 3260 patch: http://thq.vo.llnwd.net/o10/SC/live/supcom_patch_1.0.3189_to_1.1.3260.exe, which I got from here: http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=13046
The original Unreal Tournament did the same thing. They required the disc up until the first patch, which is not unreasonable in my opinion.
He's posting on /.. Inflatable dolls can't call back.
That's not his thinking at all.

I dunno about you, but I'd rather carry a light device with a power adapter, than a heavy one with a power adapter...
After studying Shakespeare in school... I kinda wish IP had existed!
While I've never flown a helicopter (or any aircraft), aren't they able to remain fairly stationary, or does it require a great deal of effort?
