Who pays for it?
I don't know how it works in NY, but in DC, every time some new device is mandated, the money comes out of the driver's pocket. Sucks to lose hundreds of dollars for something they don't even want in the first place.
I think the program is a great idea. Considering the target's age, it's a great balance between "big brother" and unsupervised freedom. However...
Fong reckons the level of interactivity would encourage users to feel an emotional attachment.
Fong said that the company is banking on this attachment to keep users shelling out the monthly subscription fee for the service because failing to do so will result in the pet dying.
Imagine how traumatized the kids will be once they find out that their parents killed their friend.
Jade Empire was a short game. Not too much of a stretch to say it's as long as HL:Episode 1. I remember reading that they intentionally avoid the 50 hours gameplay time of many in the same genre because they do not believe that modern gamers have the time to invest. With this in mind, I guess episodic contents, generally quicker to play through, are a natural direction for them.
The cylons might have been more fearsome when they were cold and mysterious. However, I doubt that such 2-D representation could sustain the show for long. It's best that they revealed the answer before it became tedious.
Not to rain on anybodies parade, but if that supernova sends a gamma ray burst in our direction. We can kiss our asses goodby.......and get new big, mean, and green ones.
There's a reason the Wii-mote comes in two. It's very hard to use the analog while taking advantage of the motion sensor. Pick up a PS2 controller. Imagine using the analog to move and the motion sensor to look. Now move left and look right. A lot of people that I asked needed a moment to think about it first or they looked to the left first. I don't think they even use the analog when demoing the controller.
I'm surprised that nobody thinks that the name Wii is an attempt to attract the Ipod crowd. That was my actually my first thought when I saw the name. Just like how 360 was meant to make the XBox sounds superior to the PS3, the two i's in Wii might be trying to take advantage of the connection the letter i have to technology and style. Not to mention the influence the Ipod clearly had on the console and the controller...
I admit, I'm a Disney fanatic. I'm sure the 90s produced more than a few of us. It's so rare to find a Disney game that's not borderline unplayable. Kingdom Hearts has its fault, but I'm willing to ignore some just so I get a chance to play with some of my favorite characters.
A story that makes no sense...
The movie represented the game perfectly!
Love the series. However, the first game had so many cuts, it was impossible to understand the story until the third game came out.
I have the same complaint about the series ever since the first one. The enemies sucks the fun out of the game. Before AOD, the controls weren't too bad for platforming. However, once some of the later enemies appears, the game became unplayable. I never beaten any Tomb Raider games. Of those I played, I enjoyed the tricky jumps. However, once the second or third wave of enemies started appearing, I quit in frustration.
Oh yeah, the sneaking missions...get rid of that, too.
For me, the news is a bit depressing for me. I doubt that Disney will dilute Pixar's creativity. However, this deal pretty much destroy whatever hope I have that Disney will revive their hand-drawn animation studio. I'm a huge fan of Disney's original big-budget animations. IMHO, only Atlantis and Home On the Range were misses. I know it's highly unlikely, but I was hoping that if Disney failed in creating their own internal 3D Studio, they would give animation another chance. I was underwhelm by Chicken Little and previews of their next two 3D movies were hardly impressive. Now that they have Pixar, there is no chance for an animation revival.
It's not like this is a fault that's limited to the XBOX360. Take a look at the instruction for the PS2, GC, XBOX, PSX, etc. They all recommend not putting the console on the carpet.
If Akira Yamaoka is doing the music, then it'll take a lot of work to mess this movie up. The audio from the game, alone, scares me more than any other games I played or any other movies that I saw.
Ever since the first one came out, I always have the same complaint about the series. The fun is in the precision jumping and exploration. When I'm doing that, I love the series. However, the battles always dragged it down. Not only does it hinder exploration, but also it is extremely difficult to attack with the control that was made for exploring.
ICO is Tomb Raider without the enemies, and that's why I love the game so much.
I agree with many of the points on advertisement, business, and console design. However, all his game design points only seems to turn all games into simulation like Sims and, to a large extent, Morrowind. Stuff like AI, ammo distribution, immersion, barriers, and some "computer cheat" aren't there to annoy the player. They nudged the player to play the game a certain way. For example, the author clearly have some issues with Resident Evil Remake. However, Resident Evil is a SURVIVAL-horror. There's very little of that if you're given unlimited ammoes and a first person view like the author suggest. In fact, I believe that would just be a First Person Shooter.
I think CBS is somewhat doing this with Jericho. They are offering the whole season free in many places like Veoh to generate hype for Season 2.

Maybe a more accurate translation would be "Stop suggesting that Nintendo make a traditional FPS." Lord knows I hear it too often on message boards.
Yep. Pretty much nailed it. All my games ended up being a immunity trades. Can't help it. I just don't want anyone to feel sad.

So the last probe will sacrifice itself for nothing?

A meteor shower will appear to entertain those people waiting in line for the Wii in those early morning hours. The Nintendo God is kind, indeed.

I doubt it's true. That idea would pretty much destroy a big advantage Sony enjoys, backward compatibility.

It had very similar ideas.
Kingdom Come was the other extreme. The "metas" policed themselves, leaving the government and the rest of humanity out completely.

Was there ever a game console that claimed otherwise?
