  1. Re:coal on New Nuclear Power Plants in the next 5 years · · Score: 1

I am not sure of your definition of on-demand power but generally coal-fired turbines are not used in such a manner. I worked for the local power company through college as an intern at several different locations(coal, gas, oil, and coal gasification plants), and for peaking (on-demand) purposes oil or natural gas is generally used. The gas and oil fired turbines can be at full load in under 1 hour while it takes many hours to start a coal fired unit. I realize that spinning reserve is utuilized on coal fire units, but that is an additional unit running that doesn't need to be. As for Nuclear power I am for it (like I am for frilly toothpicks)

It is getting better as time goes on, especially in areas where DSL and cable compete. Currently in my small town of 10,000 1.5Mb DSL can be had for 14.95/mo and 3Mb DSL can be had for 24.95 a month. Cable offers a 256k/128k package for 24.95 a month and a 512/256k package for 39.95 and 1Mb/512k for 49.95.

the cable company as you can see is really overcharging especially for the quality of service they supply as well as download limits. The DSL company blows them away in speed and price and is much more reasonable in my opinion, this is driving many customers in the area to DSL for the lower price, higher speed, and better quality of service.

Good points on gouging, but here is an interesting idea that would probably have been better for MS. Initial release prices should have been 100-150 higher, they most likely still would have sold out, then guess what, Christmas discount special. The units sold during the higher price would negate or greatly reduce the loss on the systems sold and then the price drop would be once the next round of systems came out. MS would have 40-60 Million more in their pocket assuming 400k units sold. They would still be in the same situation with total stock and the game attachement rate for the first month would not have to be nearly as high to break even on the console.

I remember a time when i was much younger that MTV did show music videos, and that was mostly what they showed but for about the last 10 years it has been complelty overrun with reality shows that aren't reality. I know poeple my age (23) that have grown up watching the programming on MTV and now think that the real world is how life is supposed to be. They translate the behaviors they have seen on these shows and act that way in real life.

What alot of people that watch this trash don't realize is (and the producers of these shows have admitted) is that alot of the shows content is prompted, re-enacted if the cameras miss it, and taken out of context to make it seem more outrageous than it really is. The best part is that the biggest fans, when told about this, deny that any of it is not original and untouched by editing

Here is my question to you.

If it is so illegal for telemarketers to call cellphones then why have cellphone numbers been accepted since the no call lists inception in 2003. It would make absolutely no sense to accept numbers that could never be called for the registry.

Additionally the act of a telemarketer calling you is not illegal, it is only illegal if they use an automated dialing system, granted most of them use this, it would still be very possbile and is possible to recieve hand dialed telemarketing calls. If however you have your cell registered on the do not call list and a hand dialed marketer calls you, you would be entitled to report the call unlike the situation in which you do not have your cell phone registered. Registering your cell phone will do no harm to you.

also playtesting, game playing, and game reviewing do not make you an expert in hardware. you are right we will see what is better when the RSX is release in its final form, but remember that when it is I was not the one who said there was no way on earth the RSX could be faster with an equivalent or less transistor count.
