    For example, the EU just made data retention laws mandatory so soon places like The Pirate Bay will be legally required to log the IP addresses of each connection and retain it for a couple of years.

    I think that only pertains to the internet service providers.

    The 7900GT is 90nm process and the ATI is 130nm.

    Radeon X1800 XL with 12 pixel pipelines and less expensive, lower speed GDDR3 DRAM

    The 7900GT has 24 pixel pipelines 65nm process and is cheaper. nuff said.

    What's the point of comparing it against an older laptop with a watt hungry Intel P4 desktop CPU? Are these Apple guys not comparing the MacBook Pro against the i9400 because it might be able to put the Pro to shame? Or perhaps they just can't afford another new laptop after their recent purchase from Apple.

    I choose Apple for it makes me look sophisticated.

    Apple has quality hardware that they resell bundled with their OSX. I buy from Apple because it costs more then other hardware; so it must be better. CAS latency timings, seek time? what's that? I just want one with all the gigahurtz.

    Wow a whole slashdot article solely on Apple upgrading the CPUs to the next highest without changing the price. I know this must be a big deal for you apple users who are used to paying the extra 500 for a 80 dollar more CPU but this is ridiculous.

    Intel is winning in the mobile market and AMD winning in desktop. The PMobile beats the mTurion in battery life and heat, the mTorion matches in performance however costs less then the PMobile. Then when the mTurion is compared to the Core Duo it's just obvious who wins, Apple knows that.
