In addition to Bethesda Softworks (Elder Scrolls), which is in Rockville, Maryland now and Epic Megagames which produces the Gears of War stuff now, and a ton of other cool gaming companies, Maryland and the DC area are host to Sid Meier, probably the greatest game producer of all time. It is still amazing to that in an era where games can be produced anywhere that the DC region (DC, Maryland, Virginia) is responsible for much good stuff.
New meaning to the term Will Smith vehicle. This will make a fantastic sequel to I, Robot and will have just as much in common with Asimov as the first movie.
The thing the Mac does that really should be automatic in Windows, and should be in Vista, is that it doesn't give its users full rights. Each time you do an install it requires your password, otherwise you have standard user rights, which prevent a lot of programs auto-installing.
I have been using non-mac pc's for a long, long time and finally bought my first mac this month, so I am looking at everything through a Windows lens. I think the security settings make more sense on the Mac, as does the closed nature of the operating system. It leaves fewer opportunities for the end user to do something stupid, or more likely, prevents them opening up security holes by not doing something.
This is probably all my fault for buying a Mac. Be warned, I just installed Linux for the first time, as well, so there is no doubt trouble on that horizon, too.
The same ignorance and stupidity that was problematic for Dr. King still exists today, as it has existed since people have walked the earth and among other animals before humans.
If it is less acceptable to exclude people simply because of their race, gender or sexual orientation, then we are making progress, but that will not remove people's prejudices.
It's not even a southern/northern thing. Ghettos in northern cities are matched by slums in the south. And this is the problem that needs to be addressed.
It is economic inequality that perpetuates racism and hatred more than anything. Dr. King and businessmen like Bob Johnson (and his equally intelligent ex-wife) know that it is only by creating economic opportunity for those who are disadvantaged that anything will change.
It's a tough road, obviously, because the very prejudices we hold are what keep us from providing those very opportunities.
No one will have a 1905 year until we are long, long gone. Davinci, Newton and Einstein seem to me to be the guys that were prodigious enough in their lives to be canonized and its
going to be a while before it happens again.
Besides, Einstein had great hair.
I have a 360 and in hindsight I might have waited a little while, not because I don't love it but because the regular xbox was just fine.
What I love is the wireless. wireless controllers. wireless internet connection works well.
But those are small things that could be achieved with an xbox.
If you get the 360, do what I do, buy some good xbox games that are compatible with the 360 instead of spending 60 a piece on the 360 games. i bought 6 used games, mostly tom clancy splinter cell, for under 70 dollars shipped.
Those will go a long way, even on a 360.
You are right, it's fucking shitty.
Holy crap, a Zork reference. I love this place.

Not so hard they can't get one game ported in 3 months.
There has been no update for backwards compatible games on the 360 since December. What the hell is taking so long?

I won't have to worry about replacing my huge dvd collection like I did when dvd first came out.
I don't want to brag, but I had the 16k upgrade. 2k just wasn't enough for me. And that kick-ass tape drive.
Holy crap! I thought I was the only who did this. That's last week's schedule exactly.
Thursday is Groundhog Day, James Joyce's 124th birthday and our last day on earth.
Bono is the CEO of my favorite multi-national corporation.
Is that a 45nm chip in your pocket or are you uninterested in seeing me naked?
This is depressing. All this arguing over theoretical physics. Let's just agree to disagree. Dark matter is a dark matter.

I am not giving them a dime, either.
I keep searching for Bush and all the results are about some worthless idiot who lives in Washington, DC. Where is the porn?
I do a little more proofreading when I am preparing a resume.
im looking. any good books for people in mid-career network admin positions?
Than Slashdot should have been in jail long ago. Isn't that exactly what this website is good for?
How about a small fan or maybe, just maybe, not shoving the whole thing into a tiny space with no ventilation.

I have a core system with a bunch of games and I can't sell it to save my life. The demand must have gone completely away.
Oh I know all about the damn cat. I just hate damn cats.
