history has shown them to be the company that comes up with software that does what already-existing software does
They don't even deserve that much credit. History has shown that Microsoft didn't even have their own homebuilt OS until Windows 2000. They BOUGHT (MS not included) DOS off of a Seattle company so that they could get a contract with IBM. After this, everything through windows 98 was more or less just a frontend to that.
The Kelo Decision WAS a big deal - Yes, the constitution states that property may be seized for PUBLIC use, but Kelo stated that property could be seized for PRIVATE development, based on the argument that this would improve the local economy (i.e. by creating jobs).
When you don't come up with any support for your thesis, you're the one that comes off sounind like you don't understand.
Probably the same thing the people in New Orleans were saying before Katrina...
The fact that it hasn't happened yet is no indication that it won't, and for all you know it could be any day now.
People knew about the danger New Orleans was in, and that it would be blatantly unprotected if a hurricane of great enough force were to hit. Had the people who had the power to do something stepped up and tried to remedy the situation (not passing judgement, just playing out a scenario) the disaster might not have been so terrible.
moreover, what about all us Half Life 2 fans out there?
Starcraft?
Warcraft?
Command and Conquer?
That's just off the top of my head, and some of the biggest series at that. There are plenty of games that run natively only on Windows (okay, OS X too in some cases), and until these games are ported to Linux or Xbox or PS2 there just won't be a better medium to play them on.
I did my first gentoo install only 2 months ago(by the book), and in that time learned more about linux than from running it an entire year before with other (more user-friendly distros). You do learn alot, even by the book, because it lets you see the inards more than some distros, and forces you to see how what does what and why it's there. This is actually one of the main reasons I DID use gentoo, rather than something like fedora 4.
"Is privacy no longer a concern...?"
People don't know enough to be concerned. Most people happily ignore politics; their right to privacy is just a subset of this. The government tells them its good for them, and they'll blindy buy into it, to lazy or too stupid to actually see the facts.
should the government tell them that losing their freedoms is a good thing, then they'll buy right into it, no questions asked
That is to say unitl Macs become the dominant platform and more viruses start cropping up for mac
Sure, Macs are very secure, but there will undoubtedly be a holes somehwere, and when that happens, macs could easily become just as virus ridden as Windows systems
I do, however, agreee with you on the interface. While I myself Have not personally Tried Mac (still don't have a machine I can play around with the new x86 version on) KDE and any other desktop enviroment show just how dull and unevolved the Windows interface is. They still use the same basic design Apple sued them for ages ago, and longhorn looks to be little more than extra eye candy there. Past that, when working in Windows (XP mostly, 98 and older aren't as bad) I feel the interface is so extrenely dumbed down that it makes doing some of the more in "complicated" things (for the average moron - I mean user- ) actually become a pain for those who do know what they are doing
Yes, and to further the problem, Parents get upset if their child isn't sitting next to the one's at the top rung of the ladder. They fail to grasp that a system that promotes based on ability and not making everyone happy benifits both sides: Teachers can focus more on the needs of the underperforming child, thus pushing them to do better without dragging down the higher performing students to cover material they have already mastered. They need more honors classes in elementary and middle schools. Sadly, though, bad students seem to be bred by ignorant parents who want the best of everything for nothing. Just another reason no child left beind is a bad idea

What? Are you saying there's something wrong with taking away all the doors and then torching the house?

In other news, Google is rumored to soon launch GoogleU.S., their new governmental system to compete with the U.S. Constitution.

No, no, It was Al Gore who invented the Internet!
Get it right!
Don't forget groups like the NFL and NHL
Don't forget, CNET is VERY Microsoft centric, and it's hard to come up with dirt on Firefox.
The only stuff they can find against Firefox comes from the bottom of the barrel to begin with. I wouldn't even call anything on CNET "news".
"Think I'll get modded redundant this time?"
Moral: redundant topics will generate MANY redundant posts
So now when I have to call tech support it's going to be:
1. Dial2. Howdy Thar, hows you doin-
3. *CLICK*
If only there were no language barrier...
If they were to do this then it would even be cheaper to buy the packaged CD (and its included costs)?
1 song = $1.4910-15 songs per album
1 CD ~ $15
(even less if on sale; looking at the ads plenty of CD's were generally less than $12 dollars)
10 * $1.49 = $14.90
There's no way in hell I'm paying more for DRM'd mp3's than for the CD that I can rip and copy.
You forgot the part about him calling you a cheating hacker...
And at first glance, "copyright theft" merges to look like "copyleft"
Also, the dual monitors should be mounted on a pole that comes down from the ceiling with telescopic arms.
Just for anded impracticality, and added awesomeness, add some touchscreens with a pointless but sci-fi looking interface (LCARS, anyone?)
If memory serves its 1 followed by 100 zero's
or

To whomever does kill him, PLEASE make sure that his death is slow painful, and excessively cruel
