Another thumbs up for "Beginning Java". For object orientation with a Java emphasis though, I'd very higly recommend "The Object Oriented Thought Process". It's not a very large book but it covers a lot very quickly with good, short examples and diagrams.
"Let everyone go to his private shelter. Empty the streets. There to find the city of the dead. Let the blessing of the Bomb Almighty and the fellowship of the Holy Fallout descend on us all, this day and forever more." -- Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Yeah, but they don't tell you about the guy having to hold onto it with one hand while twirling a metal hool-a-hoop with the other hand and hoping up and down on one foot while wearing an aluminum foil beanie.
Still pretty impressive though. I wonder what they could do about my crappy cable TV service if I have them a $150 home depot gift card ?
This whole fiasco reminds me of that scene in the move "Fight Club" where Edward Norton's character is in his boss's office and he starts beating himself up and shouting "stop ! No ! Don't do that..." just before security shows up. He ends up bloodied but walking out of the building with all sorts of "hush goodies". SCO sucks. Plain and simple.
No. Swing is the bad apple that has spoiled the whole J2SE barrel.

I would say that Linux users are more like the car from the mid 70's that was called "The Thing". I think AMC made it. You could replace or remove options (doors, roof, interior) at will in order to suite your lifestyle.
Snail mail is a bit harder to get rid of though because there is no Procmail equivalant. Unless you have a secretary or someone to pre-sort and filter your snail mail, of course.
While I agree that mySQL does in fact rock and should be the database choice for most apps (where applicable), I do believe you are wrong on the Sybase writing SQL Server part. Sybase code was last used and relicensed by Monkeysoft back in the SQL Server for IBM OS/2 release. After 4.2 was out, they completely rewrote the code themselves. So 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and 2000 are completely Monkeysoft products with no involvement from Sybase.
But I'm a nudist you insensitive clod !.

I'd give my left nut for a native port of PhotoShop on Linux. That is, if I didn't already owe it to SCo for licensing fees :--(
I'd argue with you over that assertion but right now it's time to eat more dog food ! Mmmmmmm....Alpo...

**POOF ** You've got SMOKE !!!
A little "ho, ho, ho" for your Christmas spirits...
Not far fetched considering the recent announcement of inclusion of Ballroom Dancing in the Olympics.
"If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and dial again..."
Why stop there. I could really use a a Beowulf cluster of girlfriends to make up for lost time.
I wanted to go see this movie so I jumped in the car and drove to the theater only to find that I had left my pre-purchased tickets at /export/home.
So, just for the sake of argument, say someone orders twenty pizzas be delivered to his house. That would be grounds for a claim of fraud ?
Mmmmmmm.... Pizza.

I would but then it's probably already, um... taken.
Just imagine a beowulf cluster of those !
Not all of us drink (anymore).
And while your at it...get off my lawn !
Is that your real hair or have you glued a tribble to your cranium ?
