  1. No Fair Use on ITunes Australia Goes Live · · Score: 1, Informative

Australia has no "Fair Use Policy" laws, so far there has been no test case. This is the reason TiVO has not been introduced to Australia. It is illegal to record any TV show that is not being broadcast live to air. It is also illegal to rip cds to MP3. Apple have finally taken the chance, which is good to see. Hopefully none of the recording labels will launch a lawsuit.

Ontario should "benefit" more form the daylight savings change. The further you are form the equator the more daylight savings helps.

  6. Hardware on The exhaustion of IPv4 address space · · Score: 1

It mentions lack of support on current DSL routers....DUH!!! Did VCR's have DVD support before it was released? Did analogue TV's start shipping with digital tuners before Digital TV started broadcasting? Mum and dad will not spend an extra $50 on a router because it supports IPv6, which we may need in "2 to 10 years". Even I would not spend the extra money unless the technology was on the horizon. The infrastrucure roll out needs to begin before the products will hit consumer shelves.

  9. Reverse logic on Credit Card Required To View 'M' Rated Information · · Score: 1

Maybe Activision are smarter than they think. They know the only people to give out their credit card to view a trailer will be kids! So if you put in your credit card details maybe it then denies access to the trailer.

  10. Funding on Space Tourism? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Space travel is expensive. No space agency has all the money they need to accomplish their goals. We no longer have the public support we had in the 60's so private enterprise is required to help send us further. If the revenue from these tourists helps fund further space missions then it is justified.

HBO can A)sit on their ass B) Take vigilante style tactics of poisoning downloads or C) Offer a viable online alternative to illegal downloads. The music industry eventually woke up and now stores like iTunes is doing quite well, although the RIAA are still being pricks...

I have heard that the orbit was changed not just so the Russians had easier access, but it was changed in such a way that it could not be used as a platform to go to the moon - its in the wrong orbit. I guess the US were scared the Russians would use it as a platform for a luna mission.

How about instead of a grammar checker we have a grammar teacher... Others have already said we should be teaching better grammar in schools rather than using grammar checkers to check our work. So lets make the grammar checker more like a teacher, when you check your work it asks you "Do you see what you've done wrong?" then lets you figure out what you need to change and explains why.

The target audience for the big games is largely computer enthusiasts, people with high spec machines who know how to play games. These are also people that are more likely to circumvent copy protections. The target audience for the small games is more casual gamers, office workers with too much time, mum's and dad's that just use the PC here and there. These people are less likely to know how to get these games without paying and are not to fussed to shell out $10 to unlock a small shareware game.

I was thinking about the parallels between the war on terror and the war on spam. Since spamming has come a long we have had to introduce new email securities that were otherwise not required. They have created a culture where people are suspicious when their inbox says "169 Unread Messages" and now any email from a bank is looked at with suspicious eyes. Spammers have changed the face of the email world through their attacks.
