If they really want to show off some good "new" comics, they need look no farther than the hundreds of very good & very creative web comics available. They need not use an american comic masquerading as Manga (or imitating it, whatever).
That said; i read the first 20 or so VVH and i have to say i was entertained...it was kinda funny. just not something that should be in the sunday paper, introducing manga to american audiences or introducing them to a new format of american comic strips...
DIE HI & LOIS DIE!!
Actually there is a fifth option (and likely the one system builders are hoping to move to some time in the future)...NOTHING to insert at all. All games and media purchased and downloaded to the device from the internet. That might cut down on piracy huh? Of course then you couldnt bring your game to your friends machine to play...hmmm. But systems are getting smaller and lighter all the time so im sure by the time this is a reality it wouldnt be that big of a deal to carry the whole machine instead of a few game disks. Or maybe they could devise a way for the owner to take his game to another machine but not have it be a permanent transfer...
Then why did the WWF have to change thier name to WWE for the "World Wildlife Fund"...who in their right mind associates environmentalists with wrestling?
Anyone I have every told about Usenet (which is very few), I explained that it should be considered like joining "Fight Club". And what's the first rule of Fight Club?...
Years ago my signup & sign-in name was zeppo, but then along came the tide of minimum character standards; usually 6-8. Now I have been finding sites that are setting low maximums of 7-8 characters so even adnauseam doesnt work anymore. I wish there was some kind of standard.
Google announced during a press conference today their intentions to institute a program to bolster world employment rates by paying teens to help old ladies cross the street & cover puddles with jackets for women. The conference ended on a high note, with Google representitives passing out free kittens.
when it comes to infringing on the copyright of games (ie copying or downloading them) I do it as a method to try them out first before buying. And then I tend only buy the games that i have to have the original to play online or system link with others. Legally there should be no repercusions as i would never (im a broke bastard) have the money to buy or even rent all the games i have downloaded to try out. The game companies are losing no "potential" revenue from me.

...a new Starcraft or at least another expansion pack!! And where is Dragonlance the movie trilogy?! Now that we know they can do it right, a la LOTR....
P.S. and SC: Ghost doesnt count
I REALLY dont like TV.com, but i also felt an immediate dislike for this new site too....for one thing, one of the great aspects of TVtome was that all the info was available on ONE PAGE! for example: i want to figure out what episode of "scrubs" was the one about Turk and Dr. Cox being on the same pissing schedule (best episode ever BTW)...so i click on scrubs and then on season one then on the first episode, briefly scan the plot...nope not that one, page back click episode two, etc, etc, etc...on TVtome, i could click on "scrubs" then click on episodes and scroll down continuously briefly scanning each plot outline without having to make any more clicks....now this may seem trivial by itself, but this is just one example of the tons of simple things that made TVtome so great. Will any one else EVER get it right??
How about trying to stop a storm all together. What would happen if we detonated a bomb inside he wall of a storm? Hell we have tested bombs over the ocean before....why couldnt this work? Admitedly, I dont know what the ramifications would be, but i think its a legitament question.
State side the movie industry is losing money because of overpaid actors/actresses and releasing bad movies. Worldwide they are losing money because counterfit DVD's are rampant outside the USA. They lose far more money each year from fake DVD sales than they do from downloaders. Do they realize how long it takes the average joe to download a movie over BT or god forbid P2P. And how many times do you think average joe will keep trying to do that when he starts to watch said movie and discovers how craptastic the copy is. The MPAA, RIAA & respective studios are all clueless.
has it occured to anyone that many people may use multiple services. Each services provides different types of files for me. U**n*t (shhh dont say it out loud) provides the big stuff, quickly full albums, full dvd's, entire seasons of shows, etc... Bitorrent provides the same but more variety of harder to find files but of course much slower and finally i move to the basic P2P services for single files like songs, pictures, pdf's etc...
Does anyone really find all they are looking for from one service?
IMHO some of the biggest blockbusters to come out in the last few years (LOTR trilogy, Star Wars 1-3, Spiderman, etc...) have been more enjoyable for me at home. I attribute this to the HUGE cinema problem running rampant across america. Let me explain...
With the quality of Digital FX becoming so good lately, there is so much to see in each frame of these films. I find myself viewing movies like i was at a tennis or ping-pong match. The size of the screens at these huge multi-plexes are so big, that to see everything there is to see, i find myself turning my head from side to side while watching.
Not only that but the bigger the theater size the more poor the sound quality. I much prefer watching in one of the smaller theaters or in my home on a 50" screen. At least in the smaller theaters the sound is good and you can focus on the screen cause its the size of a normal wall instead of the side of a building.
I download all my TV shows all in DIVX format, tranfer them to my Xbox and watch them at my leisure. I have two 250GB hdd's in my Xbox of which about 350-400gb is either movies or TV shows (often an entire series). If i was recording all this stuff from a set top box i could see where someone could need more than a Terabyte...especially if it was HD content (which the majority of TV shows I watch are). The thing is I dont have time to watch TV or movies every week, I save them up and watch a bunch all at once when i have a spare weekend or im sick. I literally save stuff for months, I have some stuff on thier right now that I have had since last November. And then what if i want to save some stuff...I have another 250GB on my PC that I use soley as an archive of things i might watch again or want to save incase someone else might want to watch it. give me 2T:)
good point, but i do not that there is some form of consistancy between local participating schools and such because i have heard of some schools being turned down by local TV stations for not being consistant (i have a friend with a kid who has been learning weather related stuff in his class).
