Its not surprising that all of this has happened, maybe the people were right. Maybe microsoft did rush the xbox360 out the doors to try to get a head up on the ps3 and maybe there going to pay for it. Alot of the things microsoft has done to hype up the 360 have failed miserably. The only thing i normally hear people talking about is either live or gears of war. Being somewhat of a sony fanboy i can only hope that they will botch up the 360 release, giving sony an extra edge on there release. They should of given there system more time, and released it a few months before the ps3 release instead of a complete year ahead.
It looks like most people were right, people are starting to fight back against the RIAA and sue them for the abuse there dishing out. Its about time too.
Hmm, i find it funny since most of the nintendo fanboys like to think of there overlord as the most innovative company to ever grace the earth. But where is there emmy? Where is there award? hehehe..might show them a few things actually. Not saying nintendo isnt great, but this just proves there not as innovative as the fans think.
Thats completly amazing, however it required me to use satan to watch it. Which..the first time i tried, caused the browser to crash...Then i must suffer through a 1-2minute advertisement of some crap before i get to see the what..10 second clip of the giant squid? I hate you microsoft -_-
Finally the RIAA are getting what they deserve, trying to pressure people to get money that they dont deserve. Its not a matter of if the child knew what they were doing is wrong, its that there filing lawsuits on the wrong people, then pressuring them to settle so they wont go to court. Its scare tactics, and its downright unlawfull, which i am glad the courts are finally going against them somewhat.
This is also not 'stealing', while it may be stealing in essence, its not a physical product and its not being stolen from anywhere. Its beening downloaded, this is why we need digital laws that differ from our regular laws.
Like i've said before, we need less gamers playing games, not more. The more gamers that play, the more money the production companies make, which means the more games they'll churn out. This ultimately means (and we've seen it ALOT lately) that so many bad games are going and have already started to flood the market. We need less gamers, who actually know a good game from a bad game and wont buy the crap thats on the market. We need nerds who are interested in games that are over 10 hours long. We need gamers who are so interested in games that they grow up to be game designers, not the 'average' person who will just play a game for an hour a day.
No offence man but you backup a flame (which isnt really a flame, its his own opinions which are actually more true than the parent) with another flame.
All i have to say to this post is that you cannot just compress textures with 'the best coding in the world'. Also, since when are anything but concept art made in photoshop or 3D studio?
Plus, not all of the games size is in FMV, theres polygons, textures, AI, and countless lines of code, all of which cant just be compressed down to a little size, it has to be in a format the system can read.
As some people have stated, you can buy a dvd player for your home and a portable dvd player, but your forgetting something.
Not alot of people have alot of room when there carrying stuff on an airplane or a have a car packed full of people, would you rather have a clunky portable dvd-player in your lap (thats hot) or a small lightweight, kickass looking screen that you can rest in your hands?
Another thing is that while dvd movies were meant to be played in the home, UMD movies were meant to played on the go. Yes, you can take a dvd on the go with a portable dvd player but its really not worth it. The two mediums are for completly different markets and should not be compared.
A final note is that some of you are complaining about the PSP's proprietary format. Every handheld device has had its own format, and even the UMD has protection. Theres a reason why sony used the UMD format and not a cartidge or slimeline dvd like the gamecube.
1)It can be scratched easilly 2)Unlike a cartridge, a cd can hold alot more space. 3)While a cartridge would be the best idea for a portable system, a multifunctional system like the PSP cannot use them simply for the fact that it was meant for movies and games, you cant put a dvd-quality movie on a cartridge.
All in all, the PSP is doing well for what it was made for. It wasnt made for the poor twelve year old who doesnt travel much. It was made for the teenager or adult who spends his time traveling and doesnt have the space to lug around an mp3 player/dvd player/and a game system.
I dont know if anyone would actually want to destroy it in the first place, but there will always be some loony.
I have a question though, if you build a structure that high, that reaches through our atmosphere and into outerspace, if its lower half was destroyed, wouldnt it either...
1)Slowly fall at an angle (very slowly)as it drifts through outerspace and comes back down through our atmosphere
or
2)Stay afloat in mid-air, would gravity be enough to pull it back down? Also couldnt boosters be attached to the bottom incase this does happen to keep it in outerspace untill it can be reatached to the earth?
Everyone is complaining about how this stuff is dangerous/flamable and everything but have you consider what you put into your car? You put gasoline into your car, a highly flamable substance every day.
You put batteries filled with acid inside your remotes every day, have you ever seen one of those things explode? Its quite nasty, and having that acid get onto your skin burns pretty badly.
I am interested in how you would recharge, if you would have to buy little cans of the stuff and spray back into the battery (imagine instant recharge times). This consideration for weight really isnt a problem with Mp3 players, especially since there already so light it really doesnt matter. I do wonder what this would mean for laptops/pda's/portable laptops/DS/PSP. If it hits big it could mean alot of extensive battery time for alot of big portable electronics.
Have you ever played a FPS with a mouse, and then played a game such as house of the dead?
Now..house of the dead of course is easier to aim than a mouse, BUT..were not talking about a gun. Were talking about a small stick, now unless they add an attachment for a gun handle your not going to be able to point it with eye of sight (down the barrel) and your going to have to aim just by moving your hand. Basicly your using your hand as a mouse in free space.
Now whats harder, moving your hand..holding your hand up in mid air and moving it ALOT farther than a mouse..or moving a mouse a few inches and clicking?
Whats so special about being able to change the ending of the story based on your actions? Yes, it enables more reply value, but its going to be basicly the same gameplay with a slightly different story. Its like reading one of those books where you chose which path you wanted to go and turned to that page (wonder why there never around anymore...hmm..). I'de much rather play a game like final fantasy where the story unfolds with my gamplay, much like reading a book.
This looks like a great idea...but.
Why does nintendo keep worrying about the people who dont play games yet? Why arnt they making games for people who already play games and ENJOY the games they have now. There constantly talking about bringing more people into the gaming market. We need LESS people in the gaming market...games are getting WAY to popular.
Theres a reason why most of the modern franchises and games of the olden day are so beloved. They were made for nerds, not for grandma and the neighborhood dog. (Strap this thing to your little puppy's head and put him on a treadmill infront of the tv. Got your own walking device!:D)
I believe the weapons were used to protect the ancients against invaders a long time ago. I have a site that explains the entire FF7 history and has a timeline from 2000 years ago all the way through the happenings in the game. Its http://www.icybrian.com/fanficresource/ff7steelein fo.php
Actually, it was leaked like 3 days before it was released in japan. Probly gotten over a week before the release in japan since they had to release it with subs (it was released almost side by side with subs).
Its not that they keep redoing the same thing over and over again. Its that the odd non-basic RPG experience just doesnt sell well, you mentioned some different games by them. But what the hell do you expect them to do with an rpg? its basicly something trying to destroy a nation or world..yes you can have a different storyline but with an RPG its pretty much the basic thing.
What they have been doing within there last 3 FF games is change the basic fighting system and graphics of the rpg, which sucks since the basic fighting and upgrade system is what i consider the best RPG system..you fight monsters to upgrade. They need to work on having different weapon styles and mini-quests, this is where alot of good gameplay comes in and why i loved FF7 (and 6..which is weird since FF7 and 6 have almost the same opening:D lol). But all i gotta say is once again..DO not put voices in FFXII, it ruins the damn experience.
I agree, there is something very distinct about console rpgs and computer RPG's. I personally hate computer rpg's and love console rpg's. However, back to final fantasy..i really hope they dont have voices in FFXII. I think that completly ruined my roleplaying experience in ffx. When i am play a rpg i want to be the character, i dont want to play a character, i want to be able to be him. Having his own voice really ruins the "You being the hero" experience.
There is not a single reason to not remake FF7, its considered to be one of the best FF in the series and opened up MANY more people to the final fantasy series and RPG games alike. Its not like it wouldnt sell well, it would probly sell more than FFX and X2 put together.
I consider the fighting system to be the best in FF7, considering its just like a classical RPG with different weapons and basicly you upgrade your character through exp (FFX was a joke..wtf is with that sphere grid crap?). FF8 kinda sucked because nomatter how good you leveled, all the monsters would be exactly your level..it made no sense and was boring to play. Never played 9, but it looked pretty good too.
Final Fantasy 7 had so much to do it was crazy, when i first played it (it was my first RPG) i thought the ending was when you go to midgar tower and fight on the elevator, damn was i surprised when there was more after that. The mini games were crazy and pretty damn fun, there was so much to unlock and secret stuff to find. It had comedy, sex, an entire world that each region was different. Hell, it had 2 weapons that were like two or three times stronger than the final boss so you had something even more to work for after you beat it. Unlike most of the rpg's the final boss actually was the hardest boss in the game (hell..you fought 3..or was it four? of them in a row).
Anyway..enough of me ranting how good ff7 was. For the person who said they should make FF Acid:D its been done. Its called Final Fantasy 8..keke. Also there was a card game in FF11...but..no one played it.
Its kind of funny that the original space mission in the 1950's only took them 11 years to figure out how to fly into outerspace and land on the moon safely.
Now its going to take us, in 2005..13 years to land on the moon? 2 or 3 years more than it originally took us, almost 50 years ago?
Alright, well that was a complete waste of time.
The entire article is basicly
1)Stop treating women like sex objects.
2)Stop making games like movies.
3)Stop making games that revolve around heroes
4)Stop putting craploads of money into games, it doesnt just make them better.
While i think this is a very biased article and is pretty crappy in all respects, all these issues have been discussed before and are nothing new.
Personally i dont think women are objectified in games, if they are..that game was meant for a guy..and thats who's gonna play it. If your a woman who doesnt want to see jiggly boobies dont play the game. Would you tell playboy to stop making women pose nude? errr wait..men read those for the articles right?
The rest of the article pretty much sais that movies need to stop being cinematic experiences and that money going into said cinematic experience doesnt make it better. Actually it usually does, put a low budget title against a high budget title and the high budget title will probly be better.
Plus, people want to be heroes, alot of people play games to be a heroe unlike there real life.
Theres TONS of games that dont show women in jiggly fashion. Theres alot of games where you dont play a heroe. Theres a hella lot of games that dont have huge cinematic budgets. This article was a waste of time..please dont read it.
I dont think this affects adults or children at all. Children couldnt buy M rated games from most retailers anyway. It affects the people around the age of 18 that arnt 18 yet. This isnt liquor or drugs or masturbation from porno's. Its violence, which isnt even obsene. I would be pretty pissed if i was 16 or 17 and couldnt buy GTA by myself and had to get mommy to do it for me. Everyone wants kids to grow up, then treat them like babies.
I think alot of you are leaning towards 'this is banning children from buying M or AO rated games'. But what about the teenagers that are aged 14-17. If i was a seventeen year old kid who wanted to play GTA or Devil May Cry, why shouldnt i be able too?
This is protecting the children and giving a kick in the balls to the teenagers who bring life into the videogame industry by buying all the bloody games. Videogames are not like movies, in a rated R movie you can see everything from frontal nudity to a 'real' persons head getting chopped off.
In a videogame everything is fake, nothing looks real, and therefor a M rated game should not be like an R rated movie. There needs to be a rating for teenagers, because "T" isnt it.
I've been using windows since windows 98 and the constant BSOD's that came along with it. From windows 2000 i whent to XP and all in all there really hasnt seemed to be that much functionality or speed that came along with the new releases.
My question is, if your releasing something new and you want to make it look pretty then obviously your going to need a higher spec system, but this seems alittle rediculous. Shouldnt they be releasing operating systems that require less processing and video power?
Why make an OS that takes up all your processing power and video power and leave nothing left for the programs that run on it (XP's processes is rediculous). Why arnt they trying to make it so the OS is faster and has better CPU, GPU, and RAM conservation? It seems all there working on now is 'what looks good' instead of 'how can we make it faster'.
Its not surprising that all of this has happened, maybe the people were right. Maybe microsoft did rush the xbox360 out the doors to try to get a head up on the ps3 and maybe there going to pay for it. Heh, 18 inches is 6 inches under 2 feet. So its 1 1/2 feet.
