The link thing is broken. I just tried on my site (bertoline.afraid.org) that's in my signature. Every/. and k5 page where i have a post should then come up, but barely any do.
Google should fix that but i assume it takes quite a bit of googlepower to implement
dude, thank you SO much! I'm just now finishing up an 8 month long co-op, and i woulda forgotten to get a present for my bosses!
I'm ordering 2 bags of EnviroZilla or whatever it's called. Thanks again man
Hopefully we buy lots of this stuff -- and companies will begin realizing what freaks we are and support OSS so much that they'll do more stuff like this! Everyone wins with this!
It's all so that the rich can get richer (less labor) and the poor get poorer (less jobs). Within my lifetime, I am expecting some epic battles between labor unions and corporations/government. It will be an interesting century.
Yeah, pays off, but for who? Everyone else just ends up copying the technology created and get into the market a bit later without spending as much money on R&D!
What is the best way to tell my spouse that she needs to lose A LOT of weight?
I hope to never have to ask this question, but I think that if the time comes, it's something that may need to be mentioned.
If I fall in love with a girl who took care of herself, and I do the same (which i do), then that's the girl I want to stay in love with. Not a more inferior version of her.
I know it's a terrible thing to say, but that's how I feel about it. Perhaps love will blind me (and I hope it does, actually), but that kind of thing scares me. but anyway, let's get back to telling this guy not to fry himself
Man that's only 2Ghz! I can get a 3Ghz for way cheaper!
Come now now, I understand how things really work -- but most people do not. When your number of Mhz is what people look for and base speed on, you're not going to sell Apples like this. I don't know what they plan on doing, but I hope they figure out something better for the longterm.
Agreed. I have verizon (and a 20% corporate discount at a corporation i no longer work at!!) and the national coverage is excellent. It also rated #1 in that last slashdot link about it.
I only have a cheapo phone (audiovox), but it works like a charm and does everything I need.
I used to think the same exact thing. Then I began a co-op assignment at a GE plant and see how useful it is. Rather than paging the whole plant, engineer A can just blip engineer B and say "hey come to the front lobby real quick" or ask a quick question.
I'd hate it if I saw someone using it in the restaurant beeping and talking real loud, but in a work environment, it's a cool tool.
Nextel just sucks though. My personal cell phone is Verizon, and I think they'll do a much better job of it.
Could be a good thing. Maybe since all these virus problems with MS, they're FAR overworked lately. They'll need to hire more, but if that's true, then it's a great sign for linux
Many people are probably thinking about the kernel, but those guys are doing a relatively good job.
What we really can't overlook are the popular distributions. They can't be putting in ridiculous defaults at startup. They shouldn't use too much beta software that's going to be running a lot. They need to keep pushing updates, and make it easy. And for the most part, I think we're doing pretty good. Learn from Microsoft's mistakes while you laugh at them.
I just did it (expires never), and it's only for four different credit reporting agencies. I hope they're the four big main ones or something though. But hey, it's better than a tin foil hat!
You must not be into the bodybuilding/weightlifting/athletic world AT ALL. Creatine has been subject of more studies than I can count. And almost all of them have shown that it's a safe, and VERY EFFECTIVE supplement. It's a natural amino acid.
Creatine does wonders, and I love it. Oh, and it's been around for long enough to know if it gives many long term side effects, and it doesn't.
Go check out google before you condemn creatine, the studies are out there. And get independent ones, not ones from people who sell it to you. I can list some soruces if you're really interested
Not only that, but the movie won't take 4 years to load with windows media player 9. mplayer's superior playback will dazzle all the suckers headed to vegas
Exactly, to a point. When people, especially business execs, see that IBM is about to go manslaughter some dumbass company, it'll raise eyebrows. They then read the article, and know Linux.
Then they hear of this new server farm that will end up saving them tens of thousands of dollars in the long run. And they can think, "Oh, that's IBM... it must be good".
I definitely like it.
as far as "No publicity is bad publicity", i disagree though. I go to Ohio State. If you don't have your head up your ass, you can see that our football program is under huge scrutiny. All because we're #1 and all, but the fact is that Maurice Clarett has done nothing bad. In the meantime, Michigan's best defensive player has sexually assaulted someone and barely gets any attention. Not all publicity is good, regardless of the attention. Imagine if Linus was really evil and made some sort of distributed attack in kernel 2.6.2 and it did horrible things for eveyrone that installed it. We wouldn't get too good of publicity.

Meanwhile at the university, your PHB was getting drunk and laid on a constant basis, having the time of his life, and is now getting paid more than you.
Not me. Sometimes at work I have my head so far up a spreadsheet that abusing it is the only way to relieve stress! I print it out, rip it, burn it, and draw all over the file by writing "1+1=3". It's like torture to excel. You should see my excel book. It looks like it's been kicked across the plant twice a day!
So for those of you who work too much with excel, feel free to go mess with it. Spreadsheet abuse is one of our last ways to fight back!
Bruce, you're a great guy. However, I think you need to google around and learn to tie a tie better. It is important for when you have to suck up to corporate douchebags, like it or not:-(

An IT guy who has admitted mistake! I like you, you are a rare breed. If I had a sister, I'd definitely let you bang her. Keep up the good work!

Well, yes and no. What he did was flip the two fours, so that it's a 404 instead of a 404. So it's a bit different.

... I'm sure glad that i didn't get that job as an engineer with the power company!
... OR IS IT?!

I missed the joke too. Care to explain? THanks

SECOND MAN AT BAR: [slowly begins to edge in]

You must suck at 'teh' keyboards too :)

I don't think it's an official milestone, perhaps more of a release candidate, but test it out for the team anyway!
Best wishes bruce! Up the irons!
