  1. Banning E-cigarettes because of health effects? Umm, San Francisco? You have bigger health concerns to worry about.

  2. If I listened to today's pop music I'd feel less intellig....err, creative as well. Beethoven to Pink Floyd however; that's a different story.

  3. This story is literally everywhere else on the Internet. Why is it a Slashdot type of story?

I hate this is becoming a generic news site. Now, if Al Gore "Inventor of the Internet" died, that would be different. :P

There is no policy that mandates somebody release their tax returns. That's a stupid "tradition". I didn't care about Obama, Clinton or Bush's either.

  5. You must be part of that liberal tolerance I hear so much about. Congrats on upholding that stereotype.

  6. Unless you compare her actions to everyone else in the WH, this is irrelevant.

Well considering Windows 10 "upgrades" have thoroughly broke things, I think longer spans and more time to vet changes is fine.

As somebody who works in IT, go shoot the person who said we want a new version of Windows every year. We do not.

  9. So the obligatory Mr. Obvious post: Who defines what is hate speech?

Hell, I could disagree with pedophiles. In 10 years time the way things are going, that could be hate speech.

  10. If we take gender off the forms, then how are they going to calculate & bitch about unequal pay?

  11. New rule: You use the bathroom based on your sex, not gender. Problem solved.

I'm not sure how it ever became "gender" in the first place.

Could it be that they are simply narcissistic? Maybe they are apathetic towards their fellow man and really don't care 'how they are doing'?

Now I'm not trying to paint all Finnish people with the same brush, but from the people I know in America, that's the trait that sticks out.

Well, I for one agree that Psychology majors in college tend to...not do that professionally. I personally know two friends who turned out to be a general contractor and insurance salesman.

Not even close the reason. Because Windows 7 is better.

  17. Not owning your own media (or anything) will be a problem...eventually. We're in a small window right now where the average person puts up with subscription models on certain things, but if more vendors went that direction we'd reach a point where people can't afford that any more. Cell phones, cable Internet, Spotify, iTunes, etc...when is the limit?

It used to be that only land owners could vote, and there was some logic to that. Now that anybody can vote (putting on flame suit), you have the "have-nots" voting for what the "haves" can (or will) do with their money. There are always more "have-nots".

This sounds like a white-collar issue, of which most slashdot readers are. But ask any blue-collar worker if incentives are worth more than money and the expected answer will be obvious.
