I have a saying at work: Corporations are so afraid of doing wrong they are unable to do anything at all.
I do however understand those who put the rules in order, languages with duck typing is for mashing out prototypes quick and easy so that the real product can be made in a strong typing language, its never right the first time anyway.
I think corruption usually refers to exchange of personal financial gain for providing services in an official capacity, for example bribes, kickbacks, sending government contracts to a company for which you sit on the board, stuff like that.
We can and do build tools that make simple tasks simple for more people, but let's not let most people loose on the infrastructure of our technical civilization or force the professionals to use only tools designed for amateurs.
The obvious correlation is that the other teams got disturbed by the vuvuzelas and played badly.

No way, public betas suck. You can not know if they will fix the horrible bugs or not.
I buy lots of games, most however after trying a evaluation copy from tpb or a demo. Magazines are irrelevant from a consumer viewpoint but can be fun to read anyway.
I think the ide works well for students debugging their tiny hello world -projects (or maybe junior programmers in someone elses spaghetti code), but serious professionals can visualize more than the code visible on the tiny bubble desktop in their head. There were some nifty features, but I consider it a toy for the most part.

I refuse to run an adblocker, the sites I go to need the income. I refuse to go to sites with obnoxious ads, they don't deserve my visit anyway.
