    I've seen collegues type "www.google.com" in the google search bar, ie not the address/url bar. To get to www.google.com. And search for whatever it was they were really looking for. I work in IT by the way, and so do they.

    It may even be that "our" big bang and "our" universe is one of many in the great infiniteness of the.. universe. Just like there are more planets, more solar systems, more galaxies other than our own. Just like cells in the human body, and atoms within the cells...

    Time is irrelevant unless measured, eg by a human. So this pulse may be as normal as any pulsating object, large or small.

    What is extra nice with the click2flash Flash blocker is that is blocks on Webkit level (i assume) which means other apps eg Spotify is saved from Flash as well!

    It wouldn't surprize me if Apple already has a Photoshop replacement ready for a situation like this. And with Apple, I somehow feel it's not impossible for them to actually win a lot of people over to this new software. Like they did with Final Cut Pro...

    Streaming, streaming, streaming, streaming, streaming. I wish this VLC based app can stream from iMacs and SMB PCs as well as iTunes libraries and supporting .srt and .sub from streamed sources.

    Plex can do this. An excellent application i use on OSX. The media server can be any computer, and the it streams the entire media library to computers and iOs devices.

    interesting thought, but no more correct than having the time-traveler appear in the same spot on earth where he left off. why? because there is no absolute positioning in space. his start-off point is not an absolute coordinate in space, it's all "relative" you know...

    but the thought of where a time-traveler would appear is interesting though.

    Something i always think about when it comes to eco friendly enery such as this, wind-power, wave-power etc is: if we remove the heat, wind, wave - energy - from one place, are we not in fact altering the balance somewhere?

    In this case, maybe this "geoheat" is part of a vast chain of effects and things relying on eachother, I'd be surprized if it was just laying there in a big void.

    BUT - it sure sounds promising though!

    Is this supposed to build bridges between US soldiers and Iraqi civilians? The first thing they're gonna get in machine translated arabic is "Love you", meaning "Fuck you". I think the US regime is putting way too much trust in machines, thinking a brutalized nation will have respect for a soldier speaking to them like a cyborg. How about learning arabic? Can't hurt ya! Maybe in the process you'll learn something about the people your killing.

    regarding Occam's Razor.. Anyone determined to deceive others could do it on such a grand scheme that the Occam's Razor theory predicts that it probably didn't happen, just to avoid being "detected". so, that theory can be used and abused.

    Do you really think a man like Bush has the intellect to decieve an entire nation?

    I think Bush is merely a male model sitting in for the president. He may or may not have the intellect needed to decieve an entire nation. Regardless, i'm sure he has people around him with the neccesary skills. I think Bush is calling shots but taking suggestions from others.

    AJAX seems like unneccesary work. why don't the browser makers just make it so that the page stays visible while loading, and change only at the last second when all neccesary data has been loaded? this would render the same result as AJAX. the only difference is that every damn coder alive didn't have to code AJAX over and over for every website.

    or am i missing the obvious here... ok maybe that all page data doesn't have to be reloaded, but hey - it's broadband days now..

    On a somewhat related note: i'm interested in the way Google set up their registration for Gmail. You have to be "invited" by someone else. This means that if they saved all the links between people, which i'm sure they did, they could see the network of people all around the world. They could see how many steps any person is separated from another.

    Like someone said a few posts aboove, all the saved searches do amount to a very interesting sample of peoples minds. In the same way, Gmail registration data will be an interesting sample of human networking.

    Most people spend that time backing up code to personal computers or otherwise stealing IP belonging to the employer.

    Most professionals do that in the week before they resign!

    One good thing about wired chargers is for example when you're on your cell phone and the battery starts beeping, you just attach the wire and it charges WHILE you use the phone (i.e. have it pressed to your ear). Same thing goes with electric shavers...

    None of this would work with this wireless charger. Not that I wouldn't like one laying around...

    In the old VHS days pretty much anyone could copy stuff and therefore there was no need for distribution.

    With new harder DRM only a few will be able to copy stuff but since todays pirates have worldwide distribution (p2p) at their fingertips it only takes one person who's able to circumvent the DRM to allow ALL people to circumvent it.
