  1. What about the K9 contingent? on Smart Cat Shelter Uses AI To Let Strays Inside, Keep Dogs Out (mashable.com) · · Score: 1

Are dogs less of a priority or is there a different solution for them? Asking for a friend.

  2. DJI's products feature flying, spinning, blades. If the device malfunctions it's at the mercy of gravity and wind and it's uncontrollably headed towards earth. Can you blame them for using every means possible to ensure their products are as safe as possible? Children have lost eyes to these things and people are whining about their rights to fly them in less-safe condition. I get the slippery slope concept and all but I have no problem with DJI grounding them until they're as safe as they can be. Or maybe you're reading this on your Galaxy Note 7.

Drivers who hit and kill cyclists never saw them in the first place, helmet or not. I had this debate with an anti-helmet buddy of mine who two weeks later was hit by a car and suffered a major concussion. The driver thought she hit a squirrel. He still has problems concentrating. I don't agree with helmet laws forcing people to not be stupid, but I know as many bikers who've been hit as I do that haven't.

  11. Not that simple on "Loud Commercial" Legislation Proposed In US Congress · · Score: 1

The "volume" of commercials is exactly the same as television shows. Someone screaming on a TV show is just as loud as someone screaming on a commercial. The trick that commercials do is compress all of the audio into the high range. There are no quiet subtle sounds in a commercial. To make commercials not audibly jump out at you TV channels would have to run a filter with an algorithm to reduce the perceived volume of commercials. This could also easily be done by a human. Both methods require another step in the process which costs money, and is technically lowering the volume of commercials below that of TV shows. Advertisers will fight it forever or find another way around it.

It's fairly easy to boil down the numbers as to whether or not the movie was financially worth it, but was the movie artistically worth it? Considering the writer of the original award winning graphic novel wants nothing to do with the movie, and the unlikelihood of the Watchmen movie winning any artistic awards, I don't think this movie was artistically worth it.

  16. Re:Spamhaus on How To Convince My Boss Not To Spam? · · Score: 1

Sending a mass email will get you blacklisted by Spamhaus and many other spam blacklists. This means that anybody running a half decent spam firewall will no longer receive email from anyone in your company. Being blacklisted can shut down your business. And getting off of a blacklist can take weeks, not to mention the time spent proving to these blacklists that you're actually legitimate. If you need to send a legitimate mass email you should use a third party mass email vendor like US Distribute. I'm sure there are others.
