Well, I'm a bit closer but not a source of News. I live in Fresno which is 35 or so miles from the town mentioned. However I have lived in the valley almost all my life as has most of my family. My Mother however who lived in Oregon until she was a teen has had Valley Fever. Not a single other person in my family (on mother or fathers side across uncles and aunts) have ever had it. My Fathers family farmed and lived in the dust. I myself have ran open loaders, graders, tractors and all sorts of equipment in it. I have ran equipment in the same place I have known a co-worked to get infected. It's a picky disease apparently.
Growing up as I did in the valley (Bakersfield through Fresno) I knew a few people who had it.Some to the point of it being a disabling disease and others who only got a knot on the leg but tested positive for it. At the extremes it can have life long effects but most people I have known have no lasting problems from it (there are a few that do) My Mother only had symptoms for about a week but was weak for a month. I had a friend in junior high that struggled for a year but then became healthy. It's such an unusual disease and it is very common for mis-diagnosis because outside of this area it's unheard of.
Strange to see something from the BBC on it.
Fucking Brilliant "pun intendend" require by code enforcement that every house have a dimmable switch or an automatic shutoff, Now make a law that says I cannot buy incandescent bulbs.. but if I put fluorescent bulbs in I burn out the switch or they use power constantly because they cannot be turned OFF.
This is fucking ridiculous I'd rather heat my house with incandescent bulbs than continue to replace switches and burn out "energy saving" bulbs every 30 days. This is a waste of fucking time and my money.Just how environmentally conscious are we when we put 5 million fluorescent bulbs in the same landfill. 5 milligrams of mercury in each bulb which is enough to poison 6,000 gallons of water. I'm sorry but that just seems incredibly fucked up. When is the last time you immediately had to open a window and put on a mask in your house because you dropped an incandescent bulb.
I'd give a LOT to have led's everywhere in a place where they would provide a good bit of light. My main issue is cost. I will indeed check the philips LED's.
So again, how is AZ racist? Any Illegal with a grain of brain power would pass through AZ to California where they will be welcomed with open arms.
Anyone who comes here illegally by definition is a criminal. The fact is the law exists but is not enforced worth a shit.
We live in a country that is in some cases 20 times some others in size. Yet if anyone went to France tomorrow and Spain the next day they would find an enormous difference in customs, laws and Culture. Who are we to say that States here cannot have some differences in laws, customs and culture? I'm no farther from Fresno, Ca than I would be from Pamplona Spain to Limoges France. To expect every state to have the exact same culture and values is moronic.
You don't like it fine, but no one is forcing you to move there and live.
The people there want laws to have value, the current laws are being ignored by the the U.S Government if we go down this path of ignoring laws where do we stop? Are we going to pick and choose which one's we're going to follow today?
Chances are you don't live in a newer house or maybe not in California. California building code requires dimmable switches to be built in as the first switch in most rooms. CFL's are horribly unreliable "even if you spend $12.00 for the good dimmable bulbs" at working with dimmable switches.
In the areas where I have on/off type switches they seem to work fairly well "not sure if equal to most incandescent or not but at least on par" I have multiple lights in my house that bleed through electricity if I am using fluorescent lights. You turn them off.. and the light either flickers or you can see a dim glow. This does not happen with incandescent. So California in it's ever so insane stance to control anything they can fucks me from using cheaper "power wise" bulbs in every fixture. I end up running about half and half between the two.
Soon I won't even be able to buy incandescent lights and will probably be unable to find a simple on/off switch do to some other policy they'll enact to save beavers.
Well, As I am one of those Caltrans employees.. I can tell you where the money goes that we take in in Gas Taxes, Construction taxes, etc etc. It goes in the General fund. Not transportation accounts. "except for certain taxes which do" So Lets say we have a good year.. and our transportation fund is swollen. The State comes over with its hand out and takes from that fund to put into the general fund. As you can imagine this practice has a way of making roads very hard to maintain. On top of that we have say 40 people to take care of around 1200 miles of road. Between staffing issues, cuts, promotions, vacations, sick days etc. There are typically 26-32 of those people at work. On a good day those folk actually get to do some maintenance on the road. On most days.. they respond to accidents and complaints from the public. So this is a snippet from my point of view. I do live in a fairly populated area.. but NOTHING like LA. SF etc. You can extrapolate that there are more people in those areas.. but by and large CT is an engineering organization and it's more fun to build than maintain.. So that is pretty much how we operate. build more ignore the old.
I have to respond to this. Perhaps the joke is even funnier if you know that Mr. Shatner has a love of horses and sponsors an event in the L.A. area once a year "or perhaps more"
I work in a place where we have a large percentage of people from the middle east. Most of these people are Muslim. The day after this happened there was groups between 4-6 each all over the building having quiet discussions in a foreign language. Now I'm not a racist. I believe we're all of a single race. But it made me very nervous. Because whether it was the weather or the killing of this guy.. I have no way of knowing. I have no way of knowing if there was some secret plan being put into operation. I fear they upheld this man secretly while publicly denying his actions.. But other than some whispers in another language I really have no idea what was being said.
Yet, Amazingly enough both games scored over a 9 on gamespot. and both over 90 on metacritic.
So while your opinion may be valid. It doesn't necessarily mean the games suck. I hadn't seriously played a bioware game since BG Shadows of Amn and I could really feel some of the old game in the new one. I look forward to this one.
Really? I beg to differ. I read both extensively. But i could care less if my science fiction is scientific or not. if it's loosely based in reality them I'm happy. I don't want to know math to be able to read.
I have to ask why? If you scroll experts-exchange to the bottom the answers are there. Just keep scrolling. Amazingly enough.. there are some really good answers on that site. I've been using them in this manner for about 3-4 years.
The first page of Google responses for Tranny don't have a fucking thing to do with transmissions. I'd say if the shoe fits the transsexuals can wear it. Tranny it is.
When the US was looking at this a bit harder. It was said some Japanese scientists had figured out how to get data past the transformers. (up/down) As this was one of the largest hurdles it stuck in my head. I believe it has been taken care of and if I recall it was fairly elegant and cheap.
I'd really like a third broadband option.. or even a fourth that is similar in speeds to Cable. AT&T can't even hope to compete with my current Comcast speeds. "unless they do fttp"
At&t can do 18mbps as long as I leave the line alone and don't watch TV on it at the same time. Meh.
I was 42 years old before I ever took an Anti-Biotic. I was nicknamed pig pen when I was a kid.. 2 minutes.. I was brown "while normally I am pasty white haha" In General the only thing I've ever had infections in were open wounds and then very infrequently. I am sick on the avg of once per year and it's because I'm too stubborn to get a flu-shot. I haven't a single major allergy to anything other than fresh cut grass. "and that was acquired somehow as I did not have it when younger" Keep your kids dirty.. wash them 4 times a week. Clean their hands before they eat. Introduce them to as many places and things as you can while they are young.
In California if I use my car.. it's 27 cents per gallon tax (18c norm and they add sales tax). What I find hilarious.. is that any so called loophole Amazon is using is a LEGAL one. Bitch all you want but it is legal.
In my case if I don't pay my tax at the end of the year, my savings just from Amazon would be around 100.00. Of course I will dutifully report any and all purchases on the declaration line.(meh)
If I order online someone else is paying taxes to operate here. The money used to get that company to my house pays taxes. So they've paid "or amazon paid" to make a trip to my house. They paid for the road and the highest vehicle registration taxes in the nation. California is NOT a business friendly state. We already have a law that states we must pay a tax if one is not collected. It is NOT Amazon's responsibility to collect it.
For 1 gallon of gas 27c goes to California Plus if I spend a dollar at Dollar Tree it's another 9 cents to them. So 36c to drive to the store and pick up 1.00 worth of food. They wonder why this state is bankrupt?

Because if I can buy a 2tb external hard drive for 79.00 why the fuck does it cost me 79.00 for a 1tb internal?
It doesn't it's artificially inflated. So I end up with external enclosures along with my drive purchase.
Bastards.

40% of Phoenix is Hispanic, 41% of Tuscon,

Thanks for making me read it twice. yeesh.

Well the great thing is, You could re-do something like Face-Off on a Leper island and it would have a whole different meaning.

fuck if I know where that fits in.

Ahh, what a perfectly imperfect world you perceive
with your deceptive perceptions of reality.

Which I am assuming matters not a whit to those of us using OpenDNS.
I've been extremely happy with Opendns so far. "and entirely unhappy with Comcast's opt-out method"
