The weakest part of any security model is the human element. Anyone ever see Johnny Mneumonic (spelling?)? We should just replace the agents' and soldiers childhood memories with all that sensitive data. The present administration not withstanding, it's a safe bet that those soldiers and agents won't "loose" or "misplace" their brains.
A number of factors are competing in the mobile products field right now, all of which are vying for the same buyers.
It seems my PDA is a victim of the times. I just put my HP hx4700 and GPS stuff up for auction. I am thinking of getting an Origami, when they are out there....
It looks like the artical writer has a bit of an ax to grind, to say the least:
Sen. Al Gore. In 1992, he ran two congressional hearings during which he tried to bully dissenting scientists, including myself, into changing our views and supporting his climate alarmism.
Hmmm. I think I will wait for the cold hand of reason to come along....
The problem is not where it's made, but who stands behind it. I had a bad RAM module in my T42 and IBM had a new one at my doorstep 36 hours later.
A friend of mine has a N Series that lost a hinge on the screen. It now sits on his shelf waiting for the replacement part. He spent 10+ hours with charming 'off-shore' support and they said they would 'overnight' him the replacment part. That was 9 days ago. Good times.
I have a Thinkpad (pre-Lenovo, so it'a good one) with wifi, and a biometric figerprint scanner. Can I assume that I am at a greater risk of being robbed and having my finger(s) cut off?
I had a good friend pass away a few years ago. I knew all his passwords and stuff, and have poked through his Hotmail account from time to time, just for the sentimental value.
Interestingly, he still about 50-100 spam emails per day.
You could try the ScottEvest
It can hold just about anything and you can even get solor panels for your back to recharge.
But there is this little disclaimer at the bottom of the page:
* Although most laptops will fit in the back pocket of your SeV, we don't recommend using it in lieu of a laptop bag. Sitting on your laptop is not comfortable nor good for your laptop. But it will surely work for short distances and especially for some of today's lightweight sublaptops.
I have the APC TravelPower bag and thought that was pretty cool. It has a built-in battery that charges my laptop and any other USB-chargable devices (i.e. pda, phone). And it came with AC, car, and plane adaptors.
Though the solar power 'on' [sic] is proabably way "lighter".
Now, as an employer of elite programmers, he gives them the freedom to take months on projects of their choosing. He rewards them with "genius grants" when they do something particularly innovative.
Funny how it doesn't actually say if that's in the form of real money. It sounds like secret code for something else. Like, 'Sir, I've been good today. May I spend the night with one of the in-house "genius grants"?'
That's the first rule of marketing? I thought it was 'sex sells'.

I bet I could make a graph that represents how the quality of movies is characteristically inversely proportionate to the amount of CGI effects in them.
That's why Jurassic park (one of the first films with CGI) is still fun to watch 10 years later, while Episode I was considered laughably bad within a year. The former used CGI only as needed, and the latter used practical effects only where they had too. Balance, balance, balance.
Trustix does not have much official support or documentation. You have the usual support forums and the community wiki, but there's no real documentation in the form of official HOWTOs or guides.
Wouldn't any gain from getting rid of the 'wasteful graphic displays' be more than eaten up by having to wait hours (days?) for the answer to a question that should have been documented?
Philosophically, he wanted a drama more than s/f. No aliens, no time travel, no evil twins.
The opening credits showed the evil twin cliche formula from the very first episode. I mean, isn't that exactly what Boomer is? I exact dupliacte whose intentions are in question?
Kind of like how if life requires energy to begin, then where did the energy come from? The Big Bang? Another dimension? Space monsters? And where did *that* energy come from?
Both sides ultimatly require a leap of faith. Both eventually end in a seeming paradox.
In production? I would need to see that to beleive it. How could any solely electronic device determine speed, direction, etc. without a point of reference (ie. GPS Sat.)?
One can only hope that Alienware support and hardware won't be ill effected by this acquisition.
What!? Alienware has a support staff? From my experience with AW support, ANY change would not be ill effective. One can only spend so many hours on the phone with Emir from 'the city' before one begin to doubt their AW purchase.
All I know is, know one has truly known pain until they have been barefoot and stepped on one of these molecules.
I can't wait to see a box with a shirtless Peter Norton on the front.
That's pretty freakin' hot if you ask me.
So with the 'obese American' factor figured in, that amounts to about, what, 20 guys?

It's easier to ask for forgivness than for permission.

I agree.
I've got my users so spooked about phishing they are asking permission to even check their mail (not really, but pretty close).
"Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station."

I have a t42. It's pre-Lenovo. It has a fingerprint reader. I bought it 18 months ago.

That would really be the only logical conclusion.

Comic genius.

This should have been posted at from the what-the-hell-did-you-think-was-going-happen-? dept.

The legislation carves out some exceptions, including wagering on horse races, governed under another U.S. law, and fantasy sports.
Gimme 10 G's on the Shire Hobbits in the 3rd [movie].
