How could 'dead reckoning' even be possible with a computer? It would have to know if you were walking, running, walking backwards, turning left/right, etc.
A car nav system can do it, but only because it's wired into the vechicle inself.
I guess you could tell the computer what your doing: "KITT! I need ya' buddy! I'm walking 45 feet forward at 3 fps. Calculate where I'll be when I get there!"
Remember other "paradigm shifts"? Like the "paperless office" that was supposed to change the world as we know it? I am still waiting for that one.....

Dang! I was all prepared to make this exact same response and you beat me to it. Seriously, I have had this precise text living in 'clipboard limbo' for years. YEARS....waiting for just such an article to be posted. You bastard....
RTFA. The benefit are not just for women who have had children, but for any who may have ever been pregnant. Most sexually active women will become pregnant at least once in their lives. The cells still appear in their blood even if they had a miscarriage or an abortion.
I bought the Fifth Element when it came out on DVD. Then I bought the Superbit Special Edition DVD that came out last year. Now I have to buy iy again?! There dang well better for full-frontal outtakes this time!
It would really suck if you worked for Pfizer had a name like Frank Ucker (fucker@pfizer.com). You would have to pay $$ to send an email to your own family.
Google: Don't be evil
Chinese thought-police: But if you don't do business in China, we may be forced to change our ways
Google: Don't! Be evil!
China thought-police: That's better. Now, go index some more Hentai to distract our young men.
This will not only adversly effect dependent businesses, but it have a severe impact on deaf community. There are thousands (millions?) of deaf and hard-of-hearing adults that use the Blackberry in leiu of cell phones or TTY machines. I have several friends who are deaf or active in the deaf community with BB's. I will be sad if they had to revert to SMS for all their mobile communication....
I guess I was thinking more 'cell phone' (like the screen shots) and not so much 'computer/mp3 player/pda that also makes phone calls'. But cool none the less.
So now the early adopters of mobile browsing can become even more bleeding edge by using Opera! Now if it was on a Linux based mobile phone, THAT would be somethin!
Wasn't the Internet originally the ARPAnet, which was designed to function in the event of nuclear attack? It looks like all the terrorists have to do is masquarede as backhoe operators. They could cripple the ecomony!
Interestingly, Wikipedia has no entry for the sociadynamic type of critical mass. Maybe he/she ment the nuclear fission type of critical mass? Now that would be awesome!
If you get captured by the enemy in AA, it should make you wait 1-5 years before you can start using your computer again. Of course, you could always take the cowards way out and power-off your system (suicide) or read slashdots post in an effort to understand your captors (Stockholm syndrome).
I agree with this assesment. It reminds me of this basic flaw in 802.11-A wireless. It's not a buffer overflow bug or other coding problem, it's just the nature of a metafile. But's since it's a Windows metafile, they really can't blame this one someone else.
From the artical: FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, a Democrat, expressed concern in 2004 that the way the agency has set up the licenses could lead to a single provider, a monopoly that could prey on consumers.
I think the Democrat should be more concerned about a Republican government that wants to pray with (on?) consumers. Eh?

Is it not laughably ironic that INTELLIGENT people were needed to DESIGN a game about the evolution of mankind? Now who's the monkey's uncle, eh?
I am still waiting for Nintendo's Rumble Shorts(tm) to hit the US market!
My first choice for an OS is 'Novella'. It's still sounds kinda like Novell, but you can write one much faster ;)
"The family was named Kiwaida, from Kiwa, the goddess of crustaceans in Polynesian mythology."
Polynesian crustaceans get their own goddess? That's pretty flippin' sweet!
And as a sidenote, that lobster resembles a hairy dustmite.

It is the first book I have seen that shows professional .NET developers how to incorporate A[rtifical]I[ntelligence] into their daily programming.
I think they should start with genuinely intelligent programming, and move on from there.

...hunted to near extinction elsewhere
That sounds like a challenge to me. No one ever won the gold medal for 'near extinction'.
Advent Children: the best game you'll ever read.

Um, both those links appear to show the same images. Was there a point you were trying to make?

These are already in the bargain bin at the EB Games near my place ($19.99 if you want one). Can you say 're-invent the wheel'?
