I'll just start by saying that I'm a musician and a music lover and that an album that is put together as a piece of art is a beautiful thing - but just like any art that's put together for commercial purposes, an album that's designed as a vehicle for a few singles and some filler songs isn't.
Not every artist has the ability to release 50-70 minutes of truly compelling art, and most of the buying public is more than happy to listen to singles. Conversely, some artists seem to be constricted by the 78 minute limit of CDs.
It would be a good thing if the music industry was flexible enough to let artists release what they wanted (or wanted to sell) in whatever format (in terms of single/EP/album) as opposed to this 2-years = new full-length album mentality, some artists might like to release a single every few months, while some release an EP every year and others an album every few years.
Little things get better and help productivity - simple example: something like spotlight. No matter what I'm looking for: command-space, type the first few letters of it and it's there for me to use...
I get quite upset that in our political system [at least here in Australia] I've got more say over who gets kicked out of Big Brother or Australian Idol than I do over the workings of our Government. After vote time, there's not a lot you can do to change the course of the Government policy [ie: talking to your local member is fine, but the party will do what it wants]. I would love to be able to vote individually on bills, or at least have my opinion heard in my own Parliament.
If the lecture materials are available online as well as a video of the lecture, how are students who don't go in to Uni "bad"? As long as they watch it, if they can get the same level of comprehension off it then who cares!
A couple of the lecturers at my Uni are only offering their classes via video download and not physically teaching classes.
Isn't meat just a collection of groups of cells? So I guess it would be like just growing a blob with no brain or nervous system just muscle and flesh etc... While we're not there yet I guess this would be an offshoot of the same technology used to grow people new organs and skin (if that ends up being possible).
I got really worried for a minute, but then remembered that the sole windows pc here in my office is actually a purchased version! Who would've thought it, eh?
As a former public servant, I can tell you that fear-mongering and blowing things out of proportion is an important way that a department justifies the resources they are using.
I'm a left-handed person and I ended up selling my PDA because it had no idea what I was writing 90% of the time, I had to use the little onscreen keyboard.
When I gave it to any of my righ-handed friends, no problem. But myself and another leftie just couldn't use it!
I wasn't brining it up like: "Windows is a great OS, just overstreched" - I meant that if a better OS (even a linux distro) was the dominant OS on the desktop user market thing then malware people would just work harder and create products that eventually got around all the more advanced security.
I'm a Mac user, and although I love OS X with all of my bits, I do think that if the same % population used it as currently uses windows, then there would be more serious problems with it.
I'm sure it's much harder to get malware running on OS X, but if it becomes the platform most of your potential audience are using then malware developers will just try harder to make nasties for Mac.
So, in this respect, sometimes I'm glad for Windows + IE - simply because I don't have to use it:D
With the built in mic it's pretty pointless, but you can plug in a stereo mic or anything line-in will record in stereo. It basically doesn't matter what you want to record, plug it in the hole and hit record, simple!
I have an IRiver ihp140 and the recording function is brilliant. I can record as mp3 or (up to) 44.1Khz 16bit stereo wav using the inbuilt microphone, an external microphone (one was supplied, but any one with a 3.5mm plug is fine), an external audio source (ie: line in) or a digital audio source using optical in.
I've recorded lectures, a couple of concerts and when my band practices I records all jam sessions just in case we want to review something.
The n64 was an awesome console with an awesome controller. An analog stick, standard on all controllers, genius. Ever since then a D-pad has felt so wrong.
I used to live next door to people who 'cleansed' their elecrticity using some weird plug-in devices, they tried to sell us some. We didn't buy any...
I also had an afternoon at their place while they told me all about satan's influence through rock music, they had many a book about it.
"Hopefully, when more information is released, we can find out how much energy it takes to produce this gasoline and how energy efficient the process is."
and further delay our transition to non-poluting fuels...
It all comes back to the problem that for a lot of "computer-world" problems, there is not necessarily an equal real-world problem.
The ad didn't ask if you'd make a copy of someone's car and drive it away, or a copy of a TV, or a laptop or a handbag; it asked if you would take it away from someone who'd purchased it.
If I could copy-paste someone's Porsche in real life then I damn well would!
I now have a huge craving for a big box of Leonidas.
That is Sparta?
Ha ha... Hope you like it :) - and feel free to distribute!

Well being an Australian, living in Australia, I can honestly say that neither I nor any of my Australian housemates are aware of that...
I feel sorry for his kids too, one of them is named after a weed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bindi_(plant) which grows in all sorts of places in Australia...

Or the police send you an SMS speeding ticket!

Anyone else have this problem?

What's with the background music through the interview? Does anyone listen to this podcast regulary, is this a normal thing?
