True true. However, since I have a decent Gamecube library that I still like to play, I'll be buying a Revolution anyways. It certainly isn't gonna hurt to buy a handful of games that try to use the controller in interesting ways. We'll see how it all pans out eventually, though.
The one that bugs me the most is when an application errors during launch and the error window is tucked away behind the stalled splashscreen window-that-isn't-really-a-window. Depending on the app and depending on what type of error it is, you can sometimes alt-tab to the error message (cos it sometimes doesn't get an icon in the taskbar) or you usually just have to kill it in the task manager. Ugh!
To a large extent, I agree with you. If you actually understand your computer and know what's going on, having each app and it's windows "compartmentalized" like this can be a very useful thing. Of course, I also like being able to have two windows from different apps open next to each other with a slew of other windows belonging to different apps behind them. It'd be nice if this were an advanced-user feature that could be toggled on or off.
I just ordered a Hauppauge PVR-150MCE card from PC Alchemy last week (arrived yesterday - great service!). These seem to be the best option, as they do MPEG2 encoding in hardware and apparently have good support in MythTV. I ordered an OEM card (no FM tuner) for 50 bucks, but it doesn't look like they have that anymore. As another poster mentioned, you may want to step up to the PVR-500, which is basically a dual-tuner version of the 150.
I saw no mention of how much they're going to charge for this service. Knowing how these guys work, I'm guessing it's not going to be a flat monthly fee, but rather a per usage fee. Or, of course, they could combine the two and charge a monthly fee for the ability to use the service, and then throw a small per use/recording charge on top of that. After all, they gotta find some way to maximize the profitability of this thing.
Funny, I said absolutely nothing about anyone's ability to comprehend those words. I merely commented on how little they actually think about the meanings that are associated with them.
You should try buying something from their healthcare store (I'm not sure of what sorts of checks they do for that, though). The place I work bought a bundle of machines from them a few months ago and there wasn't a single piece of crapware on the machines at all. Just the OS and the Dell support utils and a drivers folder (these were all already installed anyways).
The problem is that your plan falls apart when the DVD costs the theater 12 bucks wholesale, and the CD costs them 10. Remember that the companies that release those often operate independently of the company responsible for the theatrical release (although they usually belong to the same parent corporation).
Nobody's buying them? But I thought Sony said that they'd sold 8 million UMD movie discs, and that they couldn't even keep up with demand. And that was over six months ago. Are you saying that they weren't being honest?!?
Edited for your amusement:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are someone with the resources to even do anything with this type of information, you will most likely be able to obtain it through sources other than Google.

I hope they release a version of this for the Revolution.
I dunno about you, but I'd use one to scratch my ass.
OMG!!! P3N1S!!!
Hey you fucktards, you forgot to post a link! How else am I supposed to use the Related Links section to find a good deal on a pony?

Wow! Are you the James Taylor?

Which just further exemplifies the lack of thought that people put into the words they speak or read...

phishing for chips?
Mmmmmm...Phish 'n chips. Looks like it's lunchtime.
It works because a lot of people are idiots. Including the ones who needed to do a study to figure that out.
Hey, at least they got some grant money to do a study of the obvious. That shows a fair amount of smarts right there.
Phishing works because people don't understand (nor do they want to) the basics of the technology they use (example: Jerry Taylor).
So, is finding aliens, a la Alien, sexy?

Of course there's a story here--there may be a job opening at CNET UK next week!
I love it when perfectly valid comments get marked 'troll.' :-/

Sounds like you might've missed the announcement last week that the Revolution will also have Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx16 games available on it.
