Thank you for that link, I was just about to post a request for such information. I don't know if I've seen any of the remastered versions.

Part of this article drives me nuts, and I see the same crap in /. comments all the time:

    2. The data is often 'NSFW' (Not Safe For Work).

Why did he use the acronym if he defines it directly after use. The only reason he should do this is if he used 'NSFW' elsewhere in the article, which he does not. The writer should decide whether he feels this acronym is recognizable enough to use without a definition. If it is then use it, otherwise don't!

    Fixed:
    2. The data is often not safe for work.

  5. wrong on IT Certification Less Important Now? · · Score: 1

Some companies hold these certifications on a very high pedestal. I once applied for a job as a computer tech, or whatever you want to call it... fixing PCs for people basically. I have a Bachelor's in IT from a good school. Because I did not have A+ certification they refused to interview me. I could understand if they didn't think I had enough experience, but to specifically require A+, over even a 4 year degree is silly. I bet there are plenty more companies out there like this.

  6. The problem with blockbuster on Netflix vs. Blockbuster Revisited · · Score: 1

There are no longer any physical Blockbuster stores near me. I still pay for the free in store rentals even though I have no use for them. This is why I use intelliflix for online rentals. They are cheap, and I have had no problems with them yet. The shipping probably could be a little faster, but for the price it's definitely worth it.

Exactly. This isn't even slashdot related in my opinion. Everyone carries a drivers license. What would the difference be if you carried a national ID card instead or along with it. It just makes sense and there is nothing wrong with this. Some people take privacy paranoia to the extreme.

the EPA mandates MTBE (a known carcinogen, by the way) be in summer fuel

That's BS, they do not. MTBE is not even allowed to be used, sold, or imported into NY state. I am pretty sure Connecticut is the same way, not sure of any others. http://www.pcnr.com/News/2000/0531/Front_Page/may3 1Front_Page5670.html If you live in a state which still allows MTBE maybe you should contact your legislators and push them to stop!

    From http://www.epa.gov/mtbe/gas.htm:
The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAA) require the use of oxygenated gasoline in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution. The CAA does not specifically require MTBE. Refiners may choose to use other oxygenates, such as ethanol.

I talk on my phone, without a hands free kit every day. Hands free kits are a pain in the ass. Usually I just keep my eyes peeled for cops and if I see one I drop the phone. Once I got a ticket, but I showed the DA that I bought a hands free kit and he dropped the charge for me. Also in NY it's -phone to ear- that actually gets you the ticket. So apparently holding a CB radio in front of your face while driving a sixteen wheeler, or browsing the web on your phone is perfectly fine. It's all bullshit.
