    kind of funny you mention that, considering Japan is insanely xenophobic.

    Rednecks in the US are a small portion of the US, and their ideas dont even compare to the rabid nature of Japanese society.

    Basically it is "racism" in the US, "xenophobia" elsewhere...

    go look up concrete for homes, it is an incredibly efficient material to use, energy efficient to heat and cool and it is finally overcoming the stigma from the 50-60s when the homes were really ugly.

    concrete is a great core, but you cant just make it out of concrete.

    I dont really know what you mean by real heat or cold, I am sure the material has limitations, ie Alaska or in Death Valley it might not be great, but for the majority of the US...

    This is definately a unique idea that took real design.
    it should be patented. not too many people on slashdot are totally against patents.

    But if this was software, someone would have just patented the regular nail and claimed it to be new.

    concrete is really becoming a great option and from the outside or inside you cant even tell it is a concrete home.

    Dont forget spec homes.

    they vary in quality, but they are built for profit, without a buyer in mind.
    and i have seen many of these that are built with incredible quality. but those are by builders with good reputations to begin with.

    That is absolutely not true.

    many times it is the case, but just ask motorola about the H700 bluetooth headsets and the problems with counterfits.

    Here is one thought on the subject.
    first of all, this drug is not new. its about 3 years old atleast.

    Sleep is simply a process, a series of biochemical reactions. that is all. it does an amazing amount for a person or animal, but it is still a series of processes. so in that line, why couldnt a chemical create the same result. sure like most drugs, it will not be perfect, but if it could take sleep of 8-12 hours down to 1-2, as a nice combo. why couldnt a drug recreate sleep for the mind and body, i see no reason why it couldnt.

    all it takes is the right chemical reactions.

    personally i love sleep, it is my time to do nothing, be away from the hustle and bustle of life. then again, if the right drug came along and i could go from 5-7 hours of sleep to 1-3 and still feel like i was refreshed, then why the hell not.

    i doubt we could ever remove sleep totally, atleast in a perfect health sense, however, most drugs are not perfect, but they can reduce _____ whatever it may be

    Their knowledge base doesnt cost more, it has a base price whether is supports 1 person or a billion (outside of bandwidth)

    Most decisions involve only a few choices.

    Hundreds of options exist, but in the end, 2-3 realistic options exist and that is what is decided on.
    The rest fit a niche. When you need to fill a niche, that is when those extra thousand options are handy, but until then they are irrelevant for major decisions.

    This is the problem with lawyers, they try to make obvious things complicated. he was clearly trying to get with a 13 year old, there is no question about that.

    The person attempted to commit a crime, he tried to get with a 13 year old (but he was a sherrif)
    The person attempted to commit a crime, he tried to get with a prostitute (but she was a cop)
    The person attempted to commit a crime, he tried to buy drugs (but they werent real drugs)

    You only have an expectation of privacy involving a third party.

    You have no expectation of privacy involving the other party you are communicating with.

    IE, you tell me something on the phone you want to not be known...I blog about it, I did not invade your privacy, you told me.
    You hoped I would keep it a secret, but your hopes doesnt matter

    You can expect a third person to not receive your conversation, however you should expect the person you intended to communicate with to receive it, and unless you trust the person, you should no expect it to remain a secret.

    exactly the point.
    go to ebay, pick one up for a hundred dollar premium right now.
    wait a few more, the market is flooded.

    the problem was that people were not buying the ps3 for themselves, they were buying it to resell. the market has corrected.
    check the prices...all of the prices.

    they are quite reasonable (compared to the retail price of the ps3)
