Go watch your video again. Beginning at 18m 20s. He explains very CLEARLY that the HFCS vs sucrose issue is a complete non-issue. That's his own words: "non-issue". "They are the same".

That's hardly an excuse. That's what minimum specs are for. If your computer can't be expected to play a game at a decent frame rate, what business do you have playing that game at all?

Steam hardly does anything to the extent that you have complaints about. None of the software requires you to bring around CDs, none of that bullshit. Just download/install and play. You want to play it on another comp? Go ahead. Just log on your account on the other computer, and it'll automatically download your paid for games (if you want them of course), and let you play. God that sounds perfectly fine to me.
Pshh. $3.50? They're getting ripped off. Anyone who knows anything knows that 10 yuan -> $1.25 is the going price for ANYTHING on DVD and pirated. They'll go for cheaper too many times. 30 Yuan? Pshh.
And really, the only thing expensive there are American/Western world type products. Sure decent class hotels will cost similarly to prices in other countries, but you're comparing wrong prices. These items aren't meant for the Chinese public. Pirated DVDs are. And they're cheap. Very cheap.

In fact it gains a bit through that since the MOD scene on it has much more leeway in what goes on in design, looks, and gameplay. Just look at some of the mods at battle.net, or even just the most popular one, DotA. These mods are well worth the money paid for the game, and learning to play the regular game itself is a good part too. Sad to hear that you won't play newer games just because they moved to 3-D.
And Valve - Steam being spyware? Where did you hear about this? Now you're just moving into craziness. I couldn't even find a single thing about spyware in steam through google. The only thing that could be considered spyware would be the hardware surveys that pop up like once a year. And that's obviously not spyware (since it asks you).
There's a limit on where to draw the line. You're just going crazy about it and instead of letting yourself try a couple new gems, you stick with the old hat stuff. Sure it may be good, but that doesn't mean everything new is crap.
I don't know about you guys, but doesn't it seem odd that someone who claims to have increased their "grammar and spelling" skills TOTALLY maimed the english language in their post? The average slashdotter has a decent rate of spelling correctly, but that was just horrible. Someone mentioned the other day an article which stated that every post or article griping about spelling/grammar will contain at least ONE mistake, but this is just ridiculous.
