I saw one of these glasses-free 3D screens - I got a headache after ca 3 seconds. There is a "sweetspot" right in front of it, where it works (headaches don't show up for at lest 7 seconds!!), but then no-one else can enjoy the video.
As for the glasses, they all tended to drop-drown - like cheap glasses on a summer-day. I think next time I go see something 3D in the cinemas, I will wear some contacts, instead of my Jags.
I don't know how true or accurate this statement is, but Adobe claims no hardware acceleration on Linux is due to lack of standard API.
In Flash Player 10.1, H.264 hardware acceleration is not supported under either Linux or Mac OS X. Linux currently lacks a developed standard API that supports H.264 hardware video decoding, and Mac OS X does not expose access to the required APIs. The Flash Player team will continue to evaluate adding hardware acceleration to Linux and Mac OS X in future releases.
On OSX, can this not be accomplished via OpenCL? And aren't similar solutions available on Linux??
Microsoft isn't making any money from all those old copies of 2003, so what's stop them from "Programming Obsolescence" into their software?
Most of my customers (Automotive Manufacturing) have rules all vendors MUST submit to that disallows any system or software to stop being operational (by design) - even if license-keys, certs et al expires.
Now, whether MS has managed to work around this by throwing money at the GMs of this world, I cannot say. All I know is that if we pulled a stunt like this, we'd end up handing over the company to the first one that sues us.
Head of HR asked me about this for a recruiting-campain and what reasons I could name for working where I currently work - my answer basically boiled down to: "You do not want to know my comments on this topic..."
We're currently short a few good techies, and no-one are bringing in people they know despite the option of 1/2 - 1 month's pay as bonus if we bring in a person, that stays for at least 6 months.
No idea where you live, but most countries have some laws about the merchantability of products sold. If it does not meet this, whether it is opened doesn't matter 1 bit.
Start out by telling then that your call is being recorded, and that you are calling them to opt out.
Then quickly explain who you are and what you are opting out of.
Immediately inform them that you consider yourself out of whatever they opt-in'ed you in the first place and you have proof of having opt-out'ed and hang up before they can say anything.
If I understand correctly, developing for Maemo or Symbian doesn't exclude developing for the other platform - QT should exist on both platforms soon, allowing you to target both fairly trivially./G
So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that these aussies are asshats for challenging the world + dog to find all imaginable security holes in Windows 7? hmm, not sure, since they just recruited a lot of "free" (cost-diverted) man-power.
Also, what's the PRICE on this thing?
The other day I saw an iPhone 3GS at little over €1000 - these things seems to be cheap!
Its the UK - My guess is that the state knew of it a few seconds after he posted it...
I've met one of those ... sooo annoying
I'm sorry, but why didn't you just take him for the $1,000 instead?
Do you turn off your cellphone when not using it? How about unplugging the celltower?
See, you're not even close to going the full mile yet!

No mod-points but: Parent Is Right!

Which one of them?
Alternative: Bring laptop with proper plug (Dell and Apple both have exchangeable cords on the PSU), and charge everything else off of USB...
[..] it's not so strange to see WDs gaining mass and getting denser over time.
Ah, these are American in origin?

New Headline: Hulu may begin to gain viewers next year, as going pay-per-view allows expansion outside of 5% of the worlds population.
7. The Bible. Yes, you've heard that right. It sold more copies than all 6 Star Wars episodes and all SW books combined.
In that case, I suggest the Ikea Catalog MMO ... Only game where Epic Failure can net you a sale.
Just checked with the wife - at least the EU commission has this: Track Changes in Microsoft Word.
Try this on a Dell - As likely to crap out on wake-up as not... and yes, seen SHITLOADS of Dell laptops do this, even my brand-spanking new E6400.
