...although some will call me one. I couldn't care less, this arguement comes up twice a year, and twice a year I don't really care. I've heard all the arguements and everything, but truth be told, the switch doesn't bother me that much. The only day that really concerns me is the one where we turn time back, the extra hour is always nice. The winter time is just a pain because I like to leave work and still have some daylight - but that's just me.
Not to quote Star Trek too much, but painful memories are just as important as happy ones. They help shape who we are, and removing those painful memories, probably diminish the happy ones we do have. "The sweet is never as sweet without the sour." We're slowly becoming a society that simply wants to take the easy way out. It just doesn't work that way. There are always consequences to our actions, 100% of the time.
This is a cultural issue. It took America 150 years to give minorities and woman the right to vote. It was a loooong process of slowly coming to the right conclusions. In Afganistan, one day it was illegal, the next day it was legal. You CANNOT legislate culture, no matter how hard you try. It simply won't happen overnight, so we shouldn't expect it to.
there is a small problem with that.... justices need to be approved by congress. At this point, it seems like no judge with plans to legistlate from the bench will be approved.
Voting for a candidate because they are either prolife or prochoice is the dumbest decision ever. In 8 years, none of that is going to change regardless of who's president. Social issues are meant to distract the American public from the things that are really important. They are used as rallying cries, but in the end, little will change with any one of them. Believe me, they will still be issues meant to rally the Republican and Democrat base in 8 years. You as an Obama supporter and a likely democrat should know this simply because you may have lost the election 4 years ago because of the prolife vote. Everytime a candidate appeals to his base, I lose a little bit of respect for them. I'd rather them speak their mind about issues that they can do something about.... but they rarely do.
You know, I couldn't care who endorses who. When I go into the voting booth, I'm going to vote for who I think will do the best job. I've always thought that who you vote for is a personal decision between you and the lever that you pull down. Of course, maybe this is because I'm sick of listening to hollywood types and intellectuals telling me how I should vote. They're either pushing their agenda or stroking their ego. Which, in turn, makes them less qualified to make MY decision.
I find it funny that if you chance "McCain" in the title to "Obama", this would be one giant outrage. As it stands now, people only care about the DMCA when it affects them.
wow, you'll probably get modded up, but it makes a hell of a lot of sense. I remember waiting for years for the privledge to vote. Now that I can, there's nobody worth voting for... period.
Asking simple math or site-relevant questions are not only easier for humans (I'm talking about "What's 5 - 3") to read, but they're harder for automated parsing by software to crack.
If you really wanted to screw with these bots, you would've made the question 4 divided by 0.:-)
People don't want Windows anymore. They want their software.
People (as in, the average person) don't want OS X, they want Apple's hardware. It's trendy, hip, fashionable. They want to see that shiny little apple logo on the front of their machines. I'm no apple or MS fanboy either. I'm a Linux guy, but thats what I see.
The thing you have to realise is that most women just want a "listener" when they're feeling emotional. As long as you give occasional signs that you are paying attention, they'll believe you were "listening" more...
But hey, they're poor, so obviously they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Especially since they so often vote the wrong way, and thus prove how unAmerican they are.
Errr... don't you mean that they so often DON'T vote.
It seems to me, in the long run, this actually might be more profitable for artists. Although, it's going to challange them to come out with a good song every single time. If they could manage that, then every single song they release would be like a single. So rather then download part of a cd from iTunes, I might consider buying the whole thing piece by piece.
Are you kidding? It took an hour for me to set it up on Ubuntu. And I assure you, I'm not some DVR expert. Not to mention, it ran perfectly on absolute crap hardware.
we humans naturally forget negative things about ourselves or that we have experienced.
There's a key word in there somewhere. I'll let you know when I find it.

This makes sense in a way. I mean, really, if the government can't tax it... it's probably illegal.
But the question was -- are apple taxing you for buying their brand. Answer no
Drinking the kool aid, eh?
I wonder if all the other IPv6 laugh at this one for being so small.
How is this the least bit suprising? I imagine many companies only use 10% of their address space.

I'm sorry, what were you saying?
This diagram is horribly complex. I hope the English have a patent on it.
I'm going to venture a guess and say it will be all white and have a few USB/firewire ports.
Now, if only, we implemented this on slashdot, then we'd be in business!
I'd probably be in contact with more people from college and a few exes if I'd had that 10 years ago. ;-)
or not... :-)

Great - exactly what I've been looking for MythTV- except you have to pay for it.
This sounds like a really good reason to remember to take my wallet out of my pants before I run them through the washer.
