APPLE laptops have better parts then there desktops that use laptop cpus and hd's
also the mac book pro has a better video then the new imacs and the mac pro that only comes with a 7300 in the base system and they come with 2gb of ram the mac pro only comes with 1gb. Also the ram in the mac book costs less.
It's time to call the guy who hooked up the frogger run on barrette power with out having the power to the ram cut to do the same with my pc he can just send the bill to the RIAA / MPAA.
It's now just the cpu that can slow things down you also have to look at chipset io in intel system the chip set has to do all of that work and handle the system ram there are chipsets with tcp/ip off load and video cards can also handler the rendering but you don't want to be doing that on the same system as a network route that should be done on the router not a pc.
Also even high end nforce chipsets are slowed down by this that have tcp/ip off load and on the amd systems the cpu takes care of the ram part so did M$ cut back on tcp/ip off load support like then did with sound cards like the XFI cards?
A usb dongle does not work when TV with cable cards don't have usb ports and the ones that do use them for firmware updates / repair work only. They need somethings that will work for all cable cards and any things with a cable card port with having to make you buy / rent a box + a cable card.
CableCARD still don't work that well what is taking 2way cable cards so long to come out and windows vista system with them are even harder to get working.
Apple was talking about going to x86 useing intel cpus back when AMD was kicking intel a** and at the same time as the AMD VS Intel law suit came out. Also at the same time amd MB's had and still better on board video then what apple was and still is useing in there there systems. Back in the G5 days apple was useing AMD's HT bus and the g5 with pci-e had pci-e lanes then the mac pro.
Apple should be useing better on video then gma 950 or a real video card in all systems.
That is not like to be the case as when you are useing xp the network does not slow down and some people reporting this have good on board nics like the nforce 590 built in the chip set one and some other person had a Xfi sound card so it like is MS new sound system, driver system, network system and the drm setup.
How long before spyware & virus start using the DMCA to keep you from removing them also this website seems like it installs software that is / acts like spyware like and if you remove it does that now let you start printing with no limit? If that is the case then being sued for removing soft that messes up your system will make a lot techs risk braking the law for removing carp from people pc's.
Apple also wants you to use them as your home system but they need a mid-range tower and better gameing hardware to get more people to stop useing pc's for gameing.
There mini still has the low and gma 950 only 1 gb of ram and laptop parts.
The I-mac update only added mid-range video cards and there build in screens remove choice and make games slow down when running at full screen.
The mac pro at $2000+ is over top in cost and only comes with a low end 7300 and 1gb of ram in the base system and adding ram costs a lot because of the FB-Dimms and the video card up grades are a rip off as well $249 to go from a 7300 gt to a a ATI x1900 XT with a EFI rom or you can add one to your mac pro for $399.00 so you are paying $150 for a 7300 gt with a EFI rom. You can much better video cards on the pc for the same price this may be part of why EA is pushing the games back.
you can't get nforce pro boards for 2p+ intel systems. And the 590 SLI intel is only 1066 / 800 and 6xx intel boards just about the same cost a lot more then the am2 5xx ones.
only on the multi cpu systems not on the desktop making more like to be intel only chipsets for 2p+ system on the amd the higher end chipsets for 2p+ systems are based on the desktop ones that use the same chipset to cpu link.
AMD still has hyper transport and build in ram controller and in mulit cpu setups it is better intel haveing 1FSB per cpu is better then the past for them but is still not as good.
Also AMD has more and better chipsets for there mulit cpu system with more pci-e lanes and DDR2 or DDR2 ECC ram.
And on the desktop side you can get a High end Nforce 590 board for the same price as a lower end intel board that does not even have TCP/IP Acceleration like the 590 and few other lower end nforce chips do have.
touch screen suck for when you have to do a lot of typing as you do when trying to get a low wage job at a store and most POS / kiosk apps are codes poorly so they need admin to run and some times they just a desktop in side of a counter that has no lock on it. And you can blame intel / dell and others for needing USB ports as they like to cut out PS2 ports even know the older POS hardware needs ps2 ports.
even then switched digital video may not help in areas with a lot of uses and people don't want to have to pay for a cable box on each tv that they have. And the cable co need to give you free cable cards.
