    They should replacs the 2 of the lan ports with usb ports or more fire wire ports as they give you 0 usb / firewire back plans.

    4. The system will come with suck ass on board video and will also need to come with 1gb - 2gb + 15 of ram + 15gb+ of flash just so it can run vista as by the time like the OLPC v2 comes out XP will be not sold any more. Right now the classmate has 256mb of ram with on board video and it can run xp but that needs 2GB of NAND Flash and trying run vista on 512mb with on board video will not work.

    yes and at the same time you give up some of the main points of a laptop turning a laptop in to a thin client will mean that it will need a network hook up at all times and that may be a high cost cell phone network data card with lag and low speeds in some areas to no network at all.

    Even if you are not in to upgrading people don't like build in screens.

    Apple does not have a head less system with good video or desktop parts. They are a over priced mini with laptop parts and high prices + a high server / workstation with FB-DIMMS.

    For $1500 you should get some better then a intle gma chip that uses system ram.

    That is the high end mini system the $599 should have 1gb of ram as well.

    Is apple working on a mini-tower with desktop parts?

    A mini with a real video card will be better but likely it will be a lower end laptop / low to mid-end card.
    The mini needs desktop parts and a lower price. $799.00 for a system with 512mb of ram and on board video? with no mouse or keyboard? it a big rip off.

    you can also get better chipsets with amd then with intel at the same price.
    Mid to high end AMD SLI Chip sets are the same price as low to mid end intle chipsets.
