Movies, comic books, and video games share a common trait. Storytelling through visual media. So it makes sense that there are plenty of crossovers. My only problem being is that the crossovers can end up hideously unoriginal and trite. I'm all for a game set in the Sim City universe, but i doubt a visual retelling will be handled as well as the movie. The Star Wars franchise has given us many brilliant crossovers along with many stinkers. All in all i just hope for quality and creative games based in an existing universe, but most people can't deliver compelling content when trying to remain "faithful" to the material.
I use e-mails at work as a way to post bulletins to co-workers, to send files and to contact customers when a phone call isn't necessary. My personal e-mail account is used for website registration/verification, newsletters and bills. Social Networking sites have eased the burden of sending your friends "e-mails."
Honestly, if i call someone a real friend i usually just phone or text them. So is e-mail dead? I say no. It's handy, but hardly the thing it might have been years ago.
Not only does the GC controller offer superior comfort, but IMO it offers better control. Games always felt better when playing them on the 'cube. The only exception were arcade fighters like Capcom v SNK and even then i became well used to using that tiny d-pad. It reminded me of the original NES pad that gave me the calloused thumb i boast about today.
Agreed. Adults can learn rather well. We're not as capable as children, but that's not what hinders us. It's our lack of patience and drive to learn something completely new or advanced. Many adults give up too easily because they just don't want to spend time, but kids have all the time they need.
I hear your argument, but remember that adults don't really learn as well as children do. Also, GH has never been about guitar simulation. It's just a game with a novel controller that people find entertaining. Most people don't have the patience to learn guitar and stick with it long enough to learn a song.
I totally agree about the noise the guitar puts out. they should really find a way to dampen that.
Final Fantasy games have made about as much change as any Zelda game has. One thing final fantasy has up on zelda is that it is a "new story" with "new characters" each time. The combat in Final Fantasy has been the same for ages much the same as zelda hasn't changed much. The only difference in combat has been gradual upgrades to the same battle system before it. Final Fantasy games have increasingly offered more character customization, but the same spells and summons are always used. Zelda games have added more moves to link's repertoire, but its still a lock on slash and parry affair. Not much is changing either way, but the games are getting better and better. Boo to those who can't live past the "glory" of FF7 and boo to those who can't live past the "glory" of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. FF 9, 10 and 12 have been great games and Windwaker and Twilight Princess gave just as much if not more than what Ocarina of time had to offer.
I think you underestimate the game part as well. I play World of Warcraft because I play a game. And my behavior between the two are not the far apart. If I wanna play a role, I can as well, and then those results won't be accurate anymore, but much of the time I wanna play a game and if someone piss me in the game, there is a good chance he'd piss me in real life. I don't take the time to change my behavior just for the sake of it.
I understand the game aspect of it all, but you're immersed in a virtual world. You may respond to stimuli the same, but your reaction is quite different. If someone pisses you off in game do you cuss them out? Do you proceed to beat them? Will you react the same in real life? I'm more of a diplomat and a pacifist than i am a fighter, but when i play games (including MMOs) i become ravenous and i'm not even trying to roleplay. I use sly tactics in games when in real life i'm rather honest. Gaming (esp online) changes you wether you notice it or not.
...so why would they expect our behavior in a fantasy land to parallel our real lives?
I don't think they understand the concept of role playing games. While many people have virtual traits that parallel their personality it still isn't enough to determine a target audience. This is just plain silly and intrusive. When i pay for a service like that i don't want to see ads. However, if they made a subscription MMO for free, but with adverts. Why not?
i wish i had mod points. Little flashing lights blinking everywhere are a nerds fantasy. they're not that intrusive and they really do help guide you in the night (esp. when drunk). i'm the kinda guy that has a computer station thats like a mini cockpit of gadgets (hi-tech, and scrapped), cables and flashing lights everywhere. i have very little space so it's all made as compact and efficient as possible. tiny flashing lights just aren't that intrusive.
Its all about nostalgia. Some games we remember being better than they actually were and some games (for example, FF7) we never really let go of. Also, many games left a lot to the imagination. Sometimes what we fill in for ourselves is what makes the game great. Games today are representations of someone's vision. So much is done for us, but we still get great games from it.
Damn! You beat me to this:) I was just going to point out how sorry I feel for all the 16 year old xbox fanboi's out there thinking they're tough shit and watch them scream and cry like little girls as they get chewed apart by PC gamers:) but the 16 year-old "tough shit" PC gamer problem remains unsolved.
The question as to which is the superior gaming input device will finally be answered. When it comes to FPS games there never was a single doubt which one was the best. The Keyboard/Mouse combo will always win out in FPS games over a controller.
That would be one loooooooooooooooooong game. Its funny how the movies and the games never really give you a good sense on how long LotR actually is. They make it look like a walk in the park, but those hobbits went faaar from home.
While i agree that a variety of controllers should be available, i don't understand your fascination with the Playstation controller. To me the Playstation controller is nothing more than a generic input device much like the SNES/Classic Controller from Nintendo. They both have a symetrical design that works, but fails to "fit" into your hands. I'm a fan of the Gamecube Controllers as well as the Xbox 360 Controllers for the fact that they conform to your grip. The Xbox 360 Controller not only fits right, but the analog/button placement is dead on. It seems to me that many people just have a hard time adopting a new controller when the ones they're so familiar with (playstation/snes) feel "the best."
To me YouTube is a convenient place to watch inapropriate videos of hot(somecasesunderage)girls dancing in their undies. I mean...watching interesting Shirt Folding videos.
What constitutes as bad driving? Driving over the speed limit? hell, nearly everyone does that! Switching lanes without a turn signal or, worse yet, just switching lanes like a madman? That's been happening long before videogames. How about the older lady in the giant SUV that doesnt know the meaning of "right of way?" I'm sure she's never played a videogame in her life.
Bad drivers make for bad drivers, not videogames. You might be a little desensitized if you play racing sims or games that reward reckless driving, but even real race car drivers suffer the same desensitizing and thats more serious. Experiencing 200mph IRL is not the same as experiencing 200mph in a videogame. Those guys feel that driving on the freeway is a crawl.

Using the game music that has entertained so many as the base for new arrangements by so many famed musicians... Not too shabby, eh?
They're making arrangements of many songs from the games. So yes. they are doing work for the game.
Apparently the site will be updated daily (Japan Time) so expect updates around 11PM Est - 8PM Pac Time.
Oh God yes! The game could display soooo many sprites! It was fun too, but not your typical zelda adventure.

Very good point my friend. Though, I wonder how lucrative targeting the id can be.

if we need to fly we dont grow wings we make planes.
if we need to swim we don't grow gills or fins we make SCUBA gear
if we get too cold we don't grow fur we make clothes
if we need to eat we don't hunt we go to McDonalds.
so on and so forth...

Sounds like Henry Ford. "You can have it in any color so long as it's black."
