I had a GigE connection in my dorm at the University of Florida in 2003. Granted, all we did with it was stream music over iTunes and LAN Starcraft, but it was great for geek cred.
I read the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was in the 7th grade, and I loved every minute of it. What really got me into sci fi (and reading in general), however, was the Thrawn trilogy of Star Wars books by Timothy Zahn. I loved the Star Wars movies, and the realization that there was *more* to the story got me hooked on books for good.
Think of the children!!!
Seriously, it's sad that supposed "news" programs air things like this just to get ratings. What's even sadder is that lots of people believe them, so tech-savvy people like us now have to spend time explaining to Aunt Jane that the big evil wifi will not give her cat cancer.
Actually, I've gotten drives replaced (and shipped to me, thank God) in a matter of minutes on the chat. Now granted, I've never tried it with a motherboard failure or anything, but it does seem to work for at least some hardware problems.
While I agree teachers, or at least good ones, need to be paid more across the board, we aren't talking about paying Social Science and English teacher more because there is not currently a shortage of them. There IS a shortage of qualified math/science teachers.

Physician Assistants are another profession that does this same thing.
Dell still makes the Latitude D530 in 4:3 ratio, so they're not dead quite yet.
Dell Latitudes have matte screens and offer 1680x1050 as an option. Check out the D830.
I for one welcome our new console playing overlords.
Wouldn't this be a good thing? Less languages will mean more people speaking the same one, thus promoting better communication.
25 calls a month? Good riddance.

Always, always, always use the online real time chat for Dell tech support. The waits are shorter and it does a lot to reduce the language barrier.
So now we're looking to SOE to fix an MMO????
"We've yet to see a really good game on Wii that really says 'OK that control kicked ass'." Lightsaber battles, anyone?

Verizon has the best network where I live. Since this is primarily a *phone*, that's what I look at first.
