Same thing for Oblivion. The trailers were awesome, the AI was touted to be super smart. I mean people.. burning their own dogs.. WOOT!. Hundreds of archers with flaming arrows defending a city! cool! And yet... it was such a disappointment:(

The German-made computers are highly sensitive to slight fluctuations in the voltage of their power supply, and engineers thought the power from the new solar panels might be delivering "noisy" electricity that would trigger a shutdown.
But tests done late Thursday and early Friday showed the power from the solar panels is high-quality, Suffredini said. He said even when the computers were disconnected entirely from the new solar panels, the computers did not come back online.
But I didn't see anything in it to make me want it, either. It's got the 'shiny' (man, I miss "Firefly") Aero interface, and not a lot else that showed up in "what's new".
Alot of the stuff they put into Vista didn't show up in the "What's New" thing and the stuff they did put in there was of no interest at all to me. The sidebar is a perfect example. I dumped that as soon as i got Vista.
As for some of the nicer features? I like the new process manager, allowing you to see which actual.exe/.dll spawned a process. I like the resource watcher/manager that shows you which processes are accessing the net, which processes are accessing the hard drive the most etc. I like the reliability meters too. They are some others i can't think of atm, but there a bunch of things they never mentioned that make life in Vista bareable. Is it worth the cost of upgrading? Hell no, but if it's installed as part of a purchase it's not too bad.
Tell that to me when your daughter is born blind or a boy is born autistic and there is no way for you to communicate to him, but with human augmentation we can make him healthy again or enable him to communicate directly with you via telepathic technology.
Ah, and this brings up the discussion on eugenics. Should we improve the daughter or son so that they might live and be able to produce more offspring, that might also be genetically abnormal?
Of course, then comes the counter discussion on what is normal? What if that person who had the implants now becomes the forerunner of hyper intelligent people that provide insight into the mysteries of the universe?.. Stephen Hawkins is a perfect example.
I'm not going to say either is better, i don't really know enough about either to make a proper debate, but it is certainly an interesting discussion. Also, did you ever think that maybe the person preferred being blind? Or that the autistic boy likes being autistic?
These are large debates and decisions that must be made, and it seems that they will have to be made in our lifetime, and those decisions will not be easy to make.
Ah, more people who don't read articles or do research.. Google was indeed sent a cease and desist letter and can be found here ( dated April 17, 2007 )
Based on our results, we can only come to one conclusion. If you do not like to change the settings of your data compressors and want a good, fast and user-friendly data compressor, then WinZip is the best one for the job.
I'd rather see windows game developers take the limitations of Cedega or Wine into account than ignore linux completely
That is where i have to disagree. By asking developers to take into the account the limitations for Cedega you are encouraging them to develop an inferior product. I want a full Linux port not some half-assed hack designed to work with an equally dodgy emulater hack.
Remember folks.. Wine is not an emulator... and neither is Cedega..
It's obviously possible for game developers to target Cadega
WRONG! It's thinking like this that makes developers/publishers lazy when it comes to Linux. You don't target the emulator. You target the PLATFORM. The GNU/Linux platform has many benefits going for it, just look at I.D Software and how they support Linux with binaries of all their popular games, Quake series comes to mind. If game publishers would just pull their heads out of their asses and realize there really is a games market for Linux, we might start to see some of the more popular games being ported. It's a piece of fricken cake to port a Windows application over to Linux if you just used standard libraries in the first place without resorting to Win32 calls, and those can be ported without too much bother either. IF i had Linux binaries of my games, you would never see me on Windows again.

Well, this is totally useless to Australians. iTunes does not sell movies through the Australian store, iTunes cannot play DVD's and copyright law in Australia forbids you from making a copy of any DVD onto your computer ( there are no fair use laws in Australia ). So.. Unless you want to watch music videos or pod casts on your TV, this device has no purpose in Australia. Good job Apple!
I never said once that i endorsed the Ecma OpenXML standard. I said that i saw no reason not to fast track it, and that procedures set down are being followed correctly. The criticisms are certainly valid, but they have also been replied to and addressed(or will be addressed later). My opinion on the actual final standard itself is of no consequence.
have to assume that rather than being a paid Microsoft shill, you just don't know what you are saying, and are swallowing the ECMA's position whole, without probably even realizing it. What you missed in the PDF that you probably never read were the actual summarized contradictions, country by country, toward the end of the document. They are really an astonishing condemnation of Ecma OpenXML.
Assumptions are the mother of all fuck-ups, and you assumed wrong. I did indeed read all of the document including the comments towards the end.
Perhaps you didn't read the full document, did you miss this bit?(ECMA response)
Issue KE11 (5.12.11): Ecma is not in a position to comment on any legal issue, including possible antitrust
9 actions considered by the European Commission, and Ecma considers that these issues are not relevant in the
10 standardization context as long as the Ecma code of conduct is adhered to (which we believe it is).
Having read TFA and the PDF of the ECMA responses to the complaints, i can see why they decided to fast-track it, many of the complaints by countries are thoroughly debunked as misunderstandings of the specification. The rest are supposed to be resolved during the 5 month process.
As for TFA, they started out talking about fast-tracking the standard, then went on about totally unrelated and unsubstantiated stories about intimidation.
I may be flamed for it, but i call FUD on the part of Groklaw for this "story", the process is working as intended.
Was it Proxomitron?

Hm.. each is blaming the other. What else is new?
Huh. Safari didn't like that. i was going to say if i wanted to mod my desktop i'd probably use stuff from stardock.com
If i wante

What are the headers along the top? let's see..
Pos, Program, Switches used, TAR, Compressed, Compression, Comp time, Decomp time, Efficiency
OMG!.. is that a "time".. as in speed column i see there?
I thought NASA would be more interested in things like Croquet

Coincidence? You decide...
I will concede that Apple plans to bring movies to the Australian store, however it won't be a few more years yet.
