Although the Adblock plugin works wonderfully in Mozilla, I'd like to see more features in it.
Wonder if there is something similar in IE? It'd be great if Mozilla would take charge of the development of that plugin and start to release it with Firefox instead of an add-on.
I simply don't understand why the Bush Administration doesn't want to use retroactive warrants. Spy on whoever you want just make sure you submit the warrants to the FISA courts later.
"Specifically, Microsoft is slowly shifting toward a more open standards based approach to its file formats. The ISO standard Office Open XML is an example of the direction we are moving towards."
I mean when they say that, does the person at the other end of the phone put the line on mute and roll over laughing for a few minutes? Or when they're composing the email, does the writer actually believe what he (or she) is saying? How does the person who wrote this actually sleep at night?
"The LimeWire software allows users who right-click on any song entry and choose "browse host" to see all of the songs that a given file sharer is offering to others for download. The software also lists the IP address of active file sharers."
There have been cases where RIAA sends out notices to individuals in these institutions. If they are behind the school network and the IP address shown is of the school's public IP, how can the individuals be targeted?
Well, if it were that simple we'd be moving companies to every frikkin' place we see opportunity, wouldn't we? Companies need regulatory approval before they can merge. This is more strictly so if they are defense contractors because you don't want other countries knowing your military secrets.
Heck, Google and DoubleClick needed approval from both US and EU Regulatory authorities before they could merge. That's because even though they are US based countries, they operate all around the world.
From TFA:
"As you probably know by now, Google didn't pick up any spectrum licenses in the auction. Nonetheless, partly as a result of our bidding, consumers soon should have new freedom to get the most out of their mobile phones and other wireless devices."
also,
"But it was clear, then and now, that Verizon Wireless ultimately was motivated to bid higher (and had far more financial incentive to gain the licenses)."
Now, if they pushed Verizon to bid higher to win the contract won't they just charge the end users more?
There is a parallel here between usage of Google Docs and Linux Usage. As UMPCs powered with OSs like gOS use Google Docs and Gmail as their default document and mail providers, offlining these applications is very important. Truly now, we may be entering the phase where "The network is the computer". As users become disillusioned with Windows Vista and seek alternatives, this is the golden opportunity for computer manufacturers and more importantly, the Open Source community to promote and support these applications.
"Below, one member of China's army of part-time rainmakers mans an anti-aircraft gun to show the international media how he will shoot silver iodide into passing clouds."
Not that I have a problem with the Economist - its a great magazine - but the reporter in Lhasa just happened to be lucky. He applied for a permit for Lhasa and happened to be there the day before the riots broke out. Just an fyi, that's all.

You're kidding right? Agreed that POTUS has an IQ equivalent of a brick but I'm sure his "advisers" have learned a lesson or two from Watergate.
