"Once we became aware of this situation we took immediate action to verify the operation and quickly disabled the SDK from the IOS app. Our next step was to update the IOS app and remove Reveal Mobile completely." - IIRC, they denied it at first.
We're trading cleaning up our environment for eating food that mother nature never intended us to. By no means am I an expert, but I'm concerned and I'd like to read a study that has not been sponsored by the industry hawking the product. I want an objective study.
Even gold only has value because people believe it does. Its only real value is as a conductor, but beyond that, it's pretty worthless. Gold is too malleable and cannot be used in building.
I would love to see SGI open source IRIX. IRIX is a fantastic OS and it's graphics implementation would go far to really improve the graphic capability of Linux and BSD.
Technology will not magically make a poor teacher better. The reality is that technology only supplements learning in the classroom. There still needs to be competent, professional teachers that are paid a realistic living and treated as such.
Something seems a bit dubious about this research, almost like it is calculated to counter efforts at raising the minimum wage to a livable standard. And sure enough, there are some ties to a fiscally conservative think tank called, The Employment Policies Institute. The Employment Policies Institute is very pro-employer and pro-Privatized Health Insurance. This research study is simply meant to lobby elected officials to not raise the minimum wage. There is no credible, peer-reviewed research to suggest that raising the minimum wage accelerates automation. If raising the minimum wage had accelerated automation, we would have had FAR fewer jobs by now.
As a Jewish man I loathe hate groups but I realize that freedom does not only apply when it's convenient. Freedom must apply whether it is offensive or not - as long as the speech is not "yelling fire in a crowded movie theater" so to speak. If the speech isn't *overtly* advocating violence or killing, then it must be allowed to be made. Rather than counter-protesting, it would be better if everyone simply ignored the hate groups. Hate groups exists because we give them an audience. If they don't have an audience, their efforts are ones in futility and they just go away. Most of these members are angry attention seekers - deny them their goal through passive means and they'll fight amongst themselves in frustration.
The practice of restricting free speech, whether done as a private corporation or public government is a really slippery slope. Sometimes the act of censorship creates martyrs out of those being censored. It would be better if we do not look to the public domain for censorship. Let's practice some self-censorship. I chose not to visit websites that spew hate and revisionist history as I do not like them. If you don't like them either, then you should make that very same choice. However simply because material like this is offensive to you, does not mean it should be restricted or blocked for others.
One of the benefits of allowing sites such as these to hem and holler about is that it remains out in the open and easily monitored. When you force groups to go underground, they're not as easily watched and monitored. It is easy to use these websites as teaching and research tools of how hate develops and how demographics can affect it.
I think it is high time for there to be a public domain name registrar that does not restrict people's rights to free speech. I dislike white supremecists, neo nazis, and their brethren but they have a right to speak their minds. I am Jewish and it might sound crazy that I am defending them but America should not be about free speech as long it is not inconvenient or offensive. If racists want to go around hooting and hollering like idiots, then it is their constitutional right to do so. Besides, by blocking and censoring these groups, they only become martyrs for their own cause, emboldened, and angered. Blocking their speech just gave them a huge publicity boost. Plus, these guys are like whack-a-mole. Block one and another pops up.
You can die crossing the street. You can loose grey matter in your brain from concussion or other injury. This study is rubbish... it is a waste of time and resources.
My first computer was a TRS-80 Model II. It had 64K of RAM and a 10mb SCSI external hard disk drive. It was a beast that also had the external disk array. I learned BASIC on it. We also had the Tandy Daisy Wheel and Dot Matrix printers.
What a waste have a study. Why not research what to do about the problem? Wee aren't going to give up our pets. They're our family members. There are many worse causes of pollution.
India is churning out paper champions much like the US has. I get really angry at the IT certification programs that basically mean a person can pass a paper test, but when you place said person in the real world, they choke. The best way to learn is through hands on experience and trial and error.
"The poor man whom believes a rich man's promises is a fool." - unknown
Throughout history, the rich see the poor as a resource to be exploited. I have a bridge to sell anyone that thinks otherwise. Even the Gates Foundation makes carefully calculated donations - to causes overseas, not here in America. Last time I checked, parts of Baltimore, Flint, and Detroit look like third world countries. Mark Zuckerberg knows he can exploit those cafeteria workers at the facebook headquarters. In fact, he probably believes they should be thanking him and kowtowing to him for a job. I hate the wealthy.
Have you changed your gmail password? You can not only change your password but enable 2FA (two-factor authentication) so that you can add a further layer of security. You might even try something similar to what I did. I stopped using the free email services altogether. I bought a domain and setup my own email and web server on a cloud VPS. Certainly it costs me 20.00 a month but I get total control and google no longer gets any personal email history. If you work in IT, it's not terribly difficult to do and the results are satisfying. My email and web server is powered by OpenBSD and it allowed me to implement a highly aggressive anti-spam solution.
There are a few providers out there that do it really inexpensively: Scaleway, VPSCheap, and Vultr just to name a few. You can find plenty of help setting this up on Google.
There is no mention of "cord cutting" in TFA. The power company will just route "cleaner energy" to MS through the existing network.
No only that, but PSE is going to be stuck with the clean-up costs of the sites containing the coal-fired energy generation plants. Microsoft used the system under the guise of clean energy to avoid having to take responsibility for any site remediation. Microsoft is just one more proof that no company does anything out of altruism - they do not really give a rat's ass about where the energy comes from, so long as its supply is never (or rarely) disrupted and they can keep their data centers churning out services for outlook.com. I am so glad to be completely free of Microsoft since 1998 when I discovered OpenBSD.
Cord-cutting is still not quite a viable option. I wish it were but there are still some channels that I watch that are not available via streaming.

It's owned by HPE now.

I don't know why any company would be proud of NOT being green and eco-friendly at all. Think of the number of trees killed to produce this paper.

Since when does big telecom care about our privacy. Most of the companies were complicit in the CALEA project.

It's nowhere near on the same plane as ISIS websites. Your assertion is really a stretch.
And here we have the foundation of hate!

It is kind of a conspiracy because authorities agree not to charge bankers.

The government learns how to stop DDoS attacks from the civilian sector. What's the big secret there?

Maybe I'll let one loose in a public men's room. That'll be funny.
