So many comments so many misunderstandings...first of all the commenter who said the A and B quote was right the riaa is not only pissed that he has "shared" mp3s via the kazaa folder but primarily that the person ripped the mp3 from the cd
Pretty much all my music is in some kind of digital form, when I rip cds I certainly don't store them in a sharable folder - it's for my private use.
**** Are you using xp because if you are all of your folders and drives are shared by default via the automatic administrative shares of all drives built into xp. Therefore any file on your computer is being made available for sharing...sounds like hte RIAA has to sue M$ now.
As an aside I'd love to see the lawyer for the defendant change the extension of an mp3 file to a txt extension then print out the txt file and bring it to court...look i converted your intellectual property into a different format...how does that violate your copyrights again?
HOW are the music labels LOSING MONEY?!?!?! Let me get this straight. They no longer have to make CD's to sell tracks. The CD is costing them around 1.00 to make and sells for 18.00 for a major performer in most mall music stores. When customers buy music online the industry pays literally NOTHING to get that music to the consumer. They only have to copy a track that is already on someone else's (itunes) storage. Sure people are buying less music (ie: one or five tracks off of an album, but there are still those who buy entire albums off of itunes and the like. at 1$ or more per track they're still making 10-16 dollars if someone buys the whole album online and NO PRODUCTION COSTS! I ask again how are they losing money? Either they're complete idiots or they are whiny liars. Either way no pity from me.
all we need to do is get rid of all the radio shacks and internets in Iraq. Great somebody tell George Bush!
He'll be happy to kill teh Google.
On a side note DUH! The internet exists for no other reason than to disperse information. Does it surprise anyone
that the information dispersed might relate to DIY weapons? Not me. I hear there is this other medium that allows for
information regarding bomb making to be passed from person to person...it's called paper. Maybe we should regulate paper
AND the intarweb.
NO Nanaca Crash?!?!?! That is nearly the best flash game ever! Nothing beats being a small asian man who gets the crap knocked out of him by a girl and goes flying for best distance. It's kind of like the penguin game only you get boosts when other chicks kick your ass while bouncing along. Now that I think of it it is more like real life than a game.
Everyone on the weather channels always talks about how the warm gulf water strengthens hurricanes well then isn't the opposite true? Can't we shoot some big chunks of ice or supercooled air into the base of it and stop it dead in its tracks? I'm sure fermilab would love to toss some gamma rays into the center of the next one just to see what happens. It seems to me that these techniques in the post are all about using heat. Wouldn't that be counter-productive? Wouldn't that speed the hurricane up and make it more powerful? Sure you might change the direction, but katrina hitting fla. is just as bad as katrina hitting NOLA.
forty or fifty different languages consisting only of clicks?
Many of these languages are spoken only by one or two tiny tribes many in papua new guinea alone.
Sure it's sad but c'est la vie.
MCA already does not apply to US citizens apprehended on US soil.

Military Commissions Act applies to anyone deemed an enemy combatant by the president, or attorney general. If you are thrown in a mil brig tomorrow you have no rights until years down the line when they finally let you see an attorny. Thanks for mentioning padilla, a us citizen you proved my point without knowing it. He was an American Citizen held in a US military brig for years with no rights. And you're right this was BEFORE the MIL commissions act was enabled meaning he SHOULD have had MORE rights not less. The semantics of the legislation means nothing when the worst case scenario happens to you anyway.
I'd like to agree with you but you're going to vote for that massive bigot Ron Paul which basically puts you in the same boat as the rest of this administration and their lackeys.
Why would you want to run a patched xp box????
It's not like it's more secure...the xp security is like swiss cheeze and
many of their updates have been known to BSOD, crash computers, corrupt data or worse.
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU TRUST MICROSOFT?!?!?!
are you really as big a computer noob as this post makes you seem....oh wait you switched to a mac...yeah you're definitely a noob.
If you can't see why limiting you to the preinstalled OS is rediculous and idiotic then there's basically no help for you.
maybe someone forgot to tell you that the internet is free. I don't pay to view a page and the webmaster certainly doesn't DESERVE to get paid from ad revenue from everyone who visits the page.
Actually i do have the moral right to disregard ANY advertisers wishes online or not.
Your argument is in essence you have to watch the commercials when you watch tv...you have a moral obligation to because if you don't someone loses money.
That's the definition of idiocy, and as a result 4k boo hoo threads on/.
I'm not scared of terrists and you shouldn't be either.
These guys were GERMANS in GERMANY NOT PLANNING TO COME TO THE US, but rather attack Americans IN GERMANY.
DUH.
Why should i give up my rights again?
Even if i do see the ads the webmaster doesn't get paid unless i click and i'm not stupid enough to click ads EVER. NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO MAKE MONEY OFF ADS it is completely optional What about the tons of sites that are 100% ad free. Seems to me that if you run a site for the purpose of making money off of ads you're a scumsucking assbag.
anytime this corrupt Attorney General or this corrupt administration says so. Anyone who believes this is limited to "foreign" intercepts is naive and ignorant to say the least. We will never know who is being spied on because it is "secret". Just assume it is you because it probably is then go read the fourth amendment to the constitution. Prepare to be angry if you're not already.
People are getting confused on this issue. When it comes down to it anyone can pick up a top level programming language and code with little or no knowledge of advanced mathematics similar to the way you can pick up a phone and dial it without knowing the mechanics of how it works. Everyone replying to this thread about how math is essentially pointless these days however should go and try to program in assembly. When working with kernels on any system or when dealing with registers etc. it is extremely necessary to have a foundation in at least boolean logic, algebra, binary, hex, and the octal number systems.
Algorithms require an understanding of math naturally, but IMO this is secondary to actually learning how your programs are interpreted by the machine and how they affect the code running on your particular OS (which also IMO requires STRONG math skills).
and it was a laptop....it wouldn't boot to windows, but you could access a command line I mounted it in a picture frame and loaded up a dos slideshow app it cycled through pics of my daughter...bam digtal picture frame.
the only problem was there was only a floppy drive so getting pix on there was slow
If you all think this competition is fair you're kidding yourselves.
Skype owns.
If this goes through the cell companies won't fight over towers. Roaming charges will disappear and people with 50$ skype phones will be able to make a free phone call to anywhere in the world!
The cell companies will fight this to the death. All of the cable and wireless networks should be claimed by the government for public use. Everyone pays a fee every year or something. Oops got a little socialist there...

the more often i buy from amazon the "better" I am to them?
the only thing that makes me a bad customer is not buying often enough?
shouldn't this headline read Amazon patents slow service for infrequent customers?
or a slightly better title: If you don't buy tons of our shit we'll treat you like shit
seems more apropos.
